As part of Annual Performance Review, Flipkart likely to trim its workforce by 5-7%

Indian e-commerce giant, Flipkart is once again considering a reduction in its workforce by 5-7%, basis their Annual Performance Review which is expected to be completed by March-April.

For the past two years, the e-commerce platform has been carrying out a similar exercise on the back of performance.

As per reports, this move falls in line with the company’s effort to control costs and the fresh-hiring freeze that the company has been on in the past year.

Currently, Flipkart is a home to nearly 22000 employees, excluding the ones associated with Myntra. Hence, the purported layoffs could possibly impact as much as 1100-1500 employees.

However, the discussion on restructuring plans and the roadmap for the current year is scheduled for Flipkart’s forthcoming senior executives meeting slated for next month and the company’s plan to launch its IPO this year, remains unchanged.
