International taxi aggregation company, Uber, has appointed Taproot Dentsu as its agency on record. Taproot Dentsu won the account in a rigorous multi-agency pitch. Sources close to the development confirmed the news to BestMediaInfo.
BestMediaInfo had earlier reported about the multi-agency pitch that underwent in Delhi early in June 2017.
The account was won by the agency around 10 days back. The pitch saw participation from India’s top eight to nine agencies including Ogilvy & Mather, DDB Mudra, McCann Worldgroup, BBH India and a few more. Considering the foreign muscle and leadership in the Indian market, the account size would be significant.
The company has been working on a project basis until now. This is the first time that the cab aggregator has brought on board an agency on record. The first traditional campaign for the brand was conceptualised by BBH India and was released in September 2016.
With only two major players in the cab aggregation business in India, Uber is an important player.
