In a clear departure from the ubiquitous pattern of programming content across Hindi GECs that appeals pre-dominantly to the rural and sub-urban audiences of India, Zee TV is all set to launch the first-of-its kind cross-continental love story aimed at today's global Indian. Filmed extensively in the picturesque interiors of Punjab and all set to be shot in London over the next three months with the highest production values and technology that is ahead of its time, Zee TV's 'Rab Se Sona Isshq' promises to push the envelope in every sense!

Releasing on Zee TV on July 16, 'Rab Se Sona Isshq' brings to you the compelling story of beautiful Saahiba, who deserted by the man of her dreams on the day of their wedding, follows her heart and chases him across continents … ! Her journey of hope rests squarely on her conviction that their love is real and will last forever … Saahiba's love blooms in the rustic by-lanes of Punjab, transcends national borders and reaches the city of dreams – London in search of her beloved! An epic love story, 'Rab Se Sona Isshq' also beautifully captures the larger-than-life illusions that innocent small-town Indians harbor about a big city like London … it tells the story of starry-eyed  migrant Indians who land up in London with a million dreams,  only to be dealt with one reality check after another! Does love endure under the trying circumstances? Only time will tell!

Playing Saahiba is a fresh face from Kashmir, Ekta Kaul. Having worked in the Marketing and Sales department of an FMCG giant in the country, Ekta had never auditioned for a role before. Her very first audition landed her the role as she had the delightful innocence, radiance and the spark required to be Saahiba. It is said that Ekta more than compensates for her lack of acting experience with an extremely professional approach, her single-minded dedication and her quick grasp of the craft. The ruggedly handsome Ashish Sharma, who wowed the audience playing Chandragupta Maurya and was also seen in the off-beat 'Love Sex Aur Dhokha', has been signed on to play Saahiba's object of affection Ranvir.  Just like his character Ranvir who is obsessed with the idea of making it to London, sources reveal that the prospect of a 90-day shoot schedule in London was amongst the key attractions that made Ashish choose Rab Se Sona Isshq over other projects being offered to him. Playing an equally important protagonist called Daljeet is actor Kannan Malhotra, last seen on Zee TV in Geeta Ka Dharmyudh.  His role is that of an extremely lovable geek.  The ravishing Sukirti Kandpal who dazzled audiences with her striking good looks playing the demure Bihari bahu in Zee TV's Agle Janam Mohe Bitiya Hi Kijo does a volte-face as she essays a London-bred, hip-as-hell diva called “Jazz”!

Rab Se Sona Isshq is produced by Jay Mehtaa Productions who have associated with Zee TV in the past to produce the immensely successful 'Sindoor'.  About the new show, Jay revealed, “You will be able to appreciate the sheer effort and our minute attention to detail only once you see the episodes  … To capture the essence of rural Punjab and retain the authenticity in its depiction, we've had a 25 day rigorous outdoor schedule in villages near Chandigarh and Patiala such as Nabha, Baroli, Banur, Majri and Basi Pathana. We have stunning visuals of our leads in  Punjab.”

Saahiba's house, as it will be seen on the show, has been shot using the 3 most iconic bungalows used for the depiction of a Punjabi household in Bollywood -  the Jab We Met Haveli, the Mausam House and the Dev.D house. A very unique aspect about the show's soundtrack is the 4 new songs specially composed and recorded for it. The soundtrack also recreates some of the most beautiful Sufi compositions of Bulleh Shah, Reshma and Abida Parveen. Moreover, the show will also feature a rock band wandering through the streets, performing songs pertinent to the situations developing on the show.

Speaking of the show, Sukesh Motwani, Head – Fiction Programming, Zee TV said, “We're extremely excited to bring viewers the first-of-its-kind cross-continental love story on Indian television … It's a story about people's dreams and convictions … and how they chase them. Punjab, where it all starts, is synonymous with love. It is the land of legendary lovers Heer-Ranjha, Sohni- Mahiwal, Mirza-Sahibaan and Sassi-Punnu … and London, where the story progresses, needless to say, has its own unique character that lends itself so beautifully to romance. The canvas of this love story is expansive … and our treatment of the show will be nothing short of grand! We've shot extensively in Punjab and for over 3 months, the cast and crew of the show will be shooting in various locations across London, bringing to life the romance of the gorgeous bistros, museums, trams, galleries, opera houses, fine restaurants and the exotic locales that London is known for. The show will also delve into the stark realities that a migrant Indian is faced with when they first set foot into the city.”
