The Week that wasn't, a show that makes you look at a lighter side of the otherwise serious business of news is completing its 200 episodes on 9th October, 2010 which will be aired at 10 pm on CNN-IBN. The show is hosted by television's popular stand-up comedian and prankster – Cyrus Broacha. Rajat Arora of BestMediaInfo.com got hold of funniest man of the television a.k.a. Cyrus. See, how does he wind-up the four year journey of the show in his unique style.
Rajat: At the very outset, congratulations for completing 200 episodes of week that wasn't, what this achievement means to you?
Cyrus: Thanks a lot. But with this achievement we also hold a record. It's been almost four years since the show started and we haven't got any budget increment. So it's a record in itself. We have been told by our finance department that we may go 5 years. So this is something I really look forward to.
Rajat: How did it all start?
Cyrus: It all started over alcohol. I met the Editor in Chief Mr Sardesai at a function where after a lot of consumption of different brands of colored liquids, he said in a very strange voice that we should do a funny show just to take away from seriousness of news so then he thought about it the next day and then I begged him on a phone and after two years of begging he kindly agreed and found us a sponsor. That's how it started. Initially we thought it will just run for a week because there were lots of pretty girls in the CNN IBN office, so I thought I can just come and look at them but then they left. And then we decided to focus on the show. Now it's grown the viewership from eight people to nine.
I am eating an apple in middle so if you here a strange sound please ignore it
Rajat: From where do you get all the humor?
Cyrus: Well, we basically steal most of the stuff from net and all that. And we also ask other people for jokes. We have got lot of people to work. I hardly do any work. We've got 5-6 talented people. The only thing I insist on is make up because without that I look very ugly.
Rajat: Congratulations once again and thanks for speaking with us.
Cyrus: Please write about the show. Do bachche hai ghar pe, it's not easy.
