Henkel Consumer Brands unveil growth plans to expand presence across hair market in India

Henkel Consumer Brands, the German consumer goods company, is aiming to consolidate its position in the hair colour and care market in India with its recent milestones spanning across the professional and consumer side of its business.

Schwarzkopf, with a legacy of 120+ years, is now entering the at-home hair colour category - launching an assortment of home hair colour solutions across two exciting ranges – Colour Specialist and Simply Color.

The Indian hair colourant market has seen one of the strongest growth trajectories in the recent years and is expected to grow at a CAGR of 17.5% until 2026 led by increasing urbanisation and evolving lifestyles, the brand said. The pandemic also brought a major shift in consumer behaviour, pushing at-home convenience to the top of the priority list – making it an opportune moment for the brand to enter the industry.

Henkel Consumer Brands has also added another feather in its cap with Schwarzkopf Professional, the professional hair solutions arm, announcing Mira Rajput Kapoor as their Hair Muse in India. Kapoor will represent and advocate a key brand milestone as Schwarzkopf Professional launches a powerful campaign that brings forth the brand’s global legacy of transforming, reinventing and elevating hair.

Kartik Kaushik, Country Head - Henkel Consumer Brands, India and South Asia Export Markets, said, “The growth trajectory of Schwarzkopf Professional India has been phenomenal. Since our entry in the Indian market in 2001, we have stayed true to our brand DNA of consistently bringing in superlative products, benchmark-setting innovations, and complete focus on customer-centricity, while, at the same time, challenging norms and embracing change. We are excited to bring Schwarzkopf’s expertise into the at-home hair colour space and elevate the DIY experience. The at-home hair colour market has seen extensive growth over the last two years, especially during the pandemic and we intend to leverage this opportunity with the launch of two iconic hair colour ranges – Colour Specialist and Simply Color.  We are extremely confident and have extensive distribution plans to gain 20% of the market share in the premium segment by 2025.”
