Jwalant Swaroop steps down as COO of Lokmat Media

He will continue his association with the group as Consultant for Strategic Planning

Jwalant Swaroop, Chief Operating Officer, Lokmat Media Ltd, has decided to step down from his role. However, he will continue his association with the group as Consultant for Strategic Planning.

Confirming the development to BestMediaInfo.com, Rishi Darda, Editorial Director & Joint MD, Lokmat Media, said, “Swaroop is moving away from day-to-day role to strategic planning role for the group. He has given his 20 years to Lokmat, thus he is more like a culture for the group. His strategic vision has always driven the growth of Lokmat over the years.”

Said Swaroop, "Having spent a long time with Lokmat, I know the culture of the group. Keeping the fast changing media landscape, I am required to provide strategic input to the board. The spectrum is much larger for me now. I'll also be mentoring the new leadership within the group."

Swaroop has been associated with Lokmat since 1992 and has been a key member of the leadership team handling the advertising sales function. He took over the COO role in June 2011 and was handling the Publishing and Events businesses of the organisation. Prior to this, he was Director - Advertising. He has been involved with the newspaper industry for over 27 years.

Darda further informed that Ajit Nair will now head Advertising Sales for Lokmat Group. He said, “Ajit Nair will drive the advertising sales for the group. He was recently elevated to National Head –AIM.”
