A look at Hrithik Roshan's advertising journey on his 49th birthday

India’s very own ‘Greek God’ Hrithik Roshan is celebrating his 49th birthday today. Considered to be a superstar he is also one of the most bankable faces when it comes to advertising.

According to the seventh edition of the Duff & Phelps Celebrity Brand Valuation study, Roshan’s brand value stood at $ 48.5 million.

This year particularly was eventful for the actor, as he featured in some of the most talked about campaigns like the Zomato ‘Mann Kiya, Zomato Kiya’ campaign to Burger King’s ‘Jugaad’ ad.

Let’s have a look at some of the most memorable campaigns featuring the actor:

Zomato’s ‘Mann Kiya, Zomato Kiya’- Zomato launched an AI-powered campaign highlighting the app’s local reach in the country. The ad featured Hrithik Roshan playing a ‘spy’ on a mission with his teammates hiding in a van. That’s when they hear a knock on the van’s door only to find a Zomato delivery executive delivering the order.

It shows the actor ordering appetizing dishes from popular restaurants using the viewer’s real-time location.

However, the ad landed in controversy after one of the versions of the ad, showed the actor saying, “Thali Ka Mann Kiya…. Ujjain Main Hai, Toh Mahakal Se Manga Liya”. According to many, it hurt the religious sentiments of the people as the locals refer to the famous Shree Mahakaleshwar Temple as Mahakal. Zomato later clarified that the ad distributed in specific pin codes of Ujjain referenced ‘thalis’ at ‘Mahakal Restaurant’ and not the temple. The brand eventually withdrew the ad.

Burger King’s ‘Jugaad’- The actor’s campaign with the fast-food chain went viral for all the right reasons this year. The campaign was executed smartly with Roshan getting angry on a Burger King executive for using him as the brand ambassador without informing him.

Beardo- Roshan has been associated with the male grooming brand ‘Beardo’ for a few years now. Since then, the actor has been promoting the brand every once in a while. The actor’s campaign for the brand this year won the hearts of fans as he released some BTS shots of himself while shooting the campaign. Many were seen swooning over his looks and style in the ad.

Ferrero Rocher- The brand roped in Roshan for its Diwali and Christmas campaigns this year. The ad shows Roshan talking about how his family celebrates Diwali every year and how Ferrero Rocher is an important part of the celebrations.

HRX- Apart from all the ads, Roshan also has his own clothing brand HRX. A few years ago, e-commerce platform Myntra acquired major stakes in the brand. The brand is regarded as one of the most successful ventures by a Bollywood celebrity.

Now the brand is all set to launch its very first offline stores in the country at Bengaluru's Phoenix Market City. The actor took to social media to make this announcement.

Mountain Dew- Roshan has been a long-time ambassador for ‘Mountain Dew’. The brand’s tagline ‘Darr Ke aage jeet hai’ is also thought to be synonymous with Roshan by many. Last year’s campaign was shot on the Burj Khalifa in Dubai. The film shows Roshan gearing up for a stunt in front of a huge audience while representing India in making a world record. That’s when he takes a sip of the soft drink and takes the plunge.

Hide and Seek- Almost a decade ago, the actor was seen endorsing Hide and Seek biscuits for Parle. The campaign struck a chord with the audience and has been one of the most memorable ad films by the actor.

Parle Milano- One of the most talked about ads featuring the actor has been the Parle Milano campaign where he played an Italian baker. The ad was called out by many at the time for being bold and sensual.
