Planet Marathi OTT claims it recorded ‘500% subscriber growth’ in a year

The platform said it is readying itself to come up with a new slate of content and several other surprises for its viewers in the days ahead

As it completes its one-year run, Planet Marathi OTT is readying itself to come up with a new slate of content and several other surprises for its viewers in the days ahead.

The OTT platform claimed that it has seen a phenomenal spike of 500% in its subscriber base which spans globally across the UK, US, New Zealand, the African continent and other countries.

It said that since its inception in August 2021, the platform has seen 550+ thousand installs and 24+ million video plays. Tata Play, Jio Ads have collaborated with Planet Marathi OTT on various levels to capitalise on the robust library, as it is the only exclusively Marathi OTT player.

To increase its own reach and cater to wider audience, Planet Marathi OTT, a Vistas Media Capital company, said it has entered into partnerships and will be collaborating with telecom providers.

The upcoming slate of titles include Mrinal Kulkarni's directorial venture ‘Sahela Re’ starring her, Sumeet Raghavan, Subodh Bhave; Raanbaazaar director Abhijit Panse’s next political outing ‘Raaji-Naama’; new age romantic drama, ‘Eka Hatacha Antar’.

Other names in the content line-up include ‘Athang’, ‘Soppa Nasta Kahi Season 2’, ‘Gemaadpanthi’, ‘Compass’, ‘Aamcha Aahe’, ‘Baby On Board’, ‘Chikatgunde Season 2’ and ‘Crypto Aajji’.

The goal gets bigger every year and we are just beginning to make a mark”.

In the days ahead, the company plans to launch gamification, NFTs and amping up the music content with a dedicated section. With the announcement of its new slate of content and plans to expand the platform, Planet Marathi OTT aims to capture audience interest globally.
