After making the headlines with the attempt to take over social media giant Twitter in a whopping $44 billion hostile bid and then again when he threatened to pull out from it, Tesla CEO Elon Musk has this time ridiculed YouTube.
On June 7, Elon Musk who is an avid Twitter user, referred to YouTube as a ‘nonstop scam ad’ platform in one of his tweets. Musk’s tweet was the result of the high frequency of advertisements being run on the video streaming platform.
Twitteratis this time weren’t shy in asking Musk to buy YouTube too. They said that followed by him acquiring the platform, he should ensure the rolling out of an ad-removal policy.
This was also a hint to Musk’s earlier tweets targeting Twitter, following which he had expressed his wish to purchase the microblogging platform and make it better for users.
In a follow-up tweet Musk kindled a meme war across Twitter, which soon spread like wildfire. Musk in his tweet had mocked the platform’s guidelines under which video ads containing swear words are censored while scam ads are allegedly allowed to run. Also, despite containing explicit content, music videos aren’t censored on the platform.
Musk’s tweet is believed to be posted in context to the earlier SpaceX Digital Coin scam, wherein fake ads were run on YouTube under Musk’s name.
