Brands capitalise on the hype over Alia-Ranbir wedding

Actors Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor tied the knot on April 14 and netizens couldn’t contain their excitement. The internet was flooded with congratulatory tweets and brands not wanting to miss out on this opportunity jumped on the bandwagon.

Brands resorted to Moment marketing, which is a technique to lure audiences and make your brand stand out or visible amongst consumers.

One brand that made the most out of this wedding was Durex India, which made a loud noise with a naughty post which left the netizens in splits. The Instagram post received over 1.18 lakh likes and the comments section saw participation from over 2,000 users.

#Ralia, #RanbirAliaWedding were the hashtags trending on social media for days at an end as the couple kept releasing new pictures from the wedding and the parties that ensued in instalments.

Therefore, to make the most out of this opportunity, brands like Amul, Netflix India, Zomato, Swiggy, Spotify India, Tinder, Indigo Airlines, and many more others too posted congratulatory messages and other witty takes on their social media handles.

The master of Moment marketing, Amul, posted a picture with its Butter girl standing by Kapoor and Bhatt, who are in their wedding attire, and altered the ages old saying to read, “Patt Mangni, Bhatt Byaah”, to make it all about the actors.

Similarly, Netflix India too put out a series of tweets, including one in which they had forecasted that the two actors would make a great ‘real-life couple’. Further, it also shared some of its old tweets in which it had mixed the names of movies involving the two actors and more.

Not wanting to stay behind, dating app Tinder too urged its users to reach out their crushes and not to delay any further in expressing their interest.

Similarly, music streaming app Spotify India also posted an apt song to describe the anticipation which netizens had for the wedding and to see the photos and videos from the ceremony.

Food delivery app Swiggy took a quirky detour to congratulate the two actors, borrowing from a well-known line from Bollywood movies.

Zomato, on the other hand, chipped in with an offer to help the newlyweds in anyway they can along with congratulating them for their decision.

McDonald’s India and Dominos also congratulated the couple and hinted at people finding the best combos from amongst their offerings.

Matrimony portal Shaadi.com, meanwhile, appreciated that the wedding could take place as per the couple’s wishes and in an environment which guaranteed privacy, apart from hinting at how the wedding managed to grab the attention of all.
