With the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) contemplating to host the 15th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) in India starting March 27 till the end of May, the world’s richest cricketing body is set to release the media rights tender for the next five-year media rights in February.
KPMG is said to have finalised the process of sales of rights.
According to insidesport, the board and KPMG are keen to conduct an e-auction for the sale of media rights.
BCCI had earlier employed the same process for the sale of India Cricket and BCCI’s Title Sponsorship rights. The board is likely to again opt for e-auction for the sale of IPL media rights for the period of 2023 to 2027.
In 2017, the IPL rights were sold via closed bids. Star India (now part of Disney) outbidded all the players in the fray to acquire the rights for Rs 16,347 crore.
