BYD India, a subsidiary of new energy vehicle (NEV) manufacturer BYD, has announced the appointment of Sanjay Gopalakrishnan, as its Senior Vice-President for its electric passenger vehicle business in the country.
Gopalakrishnan will be spearheading the Sales, Marketing, and After-sales divisions at BYD India.
He will be responsible for enhancing BYD India’s position in the electric passenger vehicle segment. Gopalakrishnan comes with an overall experience of 25 years in the auto industry. In his earlier stints, he was associated with brands such as Honda, Hyundai, Toyota, Nissan, and Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA), among others.
In his previous assignment, he was the Country expert for Changan Automobiles, which was planning to enter the Indian market.

He brings a deep understanding of the Indian electric vehicles movement with leadership stints in Marketing, Product and Strategy across automobile companies.”
As a strategic and marketing expert with experience in Planning, Brand Management, Product, Media analytics, PR and Digital marketing, Gopalakrishnan holds a Master Degree in Science and is an Alumnus of IIM Ahmedabad. He was also a marketing and business consultant to Automotive Retail groups and start-up companies.
