Former journalists Mahendra Singh and Rajat Arora have been nominated by the Ministry of Railways as members of Zonal Railway users consultative committee (ZRUCC).

Singh, a former Times of India journalist, who's currently working as an assistant professor, has been nominated as the member of ZRUCC, North Eastern Railways.

Arora, who has worked with publications such as The Economic Times, The Financial Express and The Hindustan Times, has been nominated to the Northern Railways ZRUCC under the special interest category. Presently, Arora is working as a policy analyst.

ZRUCCs are formed to improve the functioning of railways through a wider consultative network. The ZRUCC members can periodically inspect the stations and trains, along with seeking responses from the Rail officials on specific issues.

Singh said he would use his expertise for the betterment of the common commuter. "I would like to thank Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Railway Minister Piyush Goyal and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for reposing faith in me," Singh said.
