Zee Zest brings to India international TV game show 'Supermarket Sweep, UK'

Lifestyle channel Zee Zest has announced the launch of TV game-show Supermarket Sweep, UK, which will air from May 24. The show comes as a respite for couch-bound shopaholics who miss strolling down the supermarket aisles. It is an exciting series following teams of two, as contestants use their grocery shopping skills and knowledge to win big cash prizes.

Supermarket Sweep is a popular, three-decade old show that has recently been rebooted to offer viewers a stress-free watch, just tapping into each one’s competitive streak and shared love of shopping. Contestants selected are teams of sociable and vibrant friends, colleagues or family duos who enter a quiz-based trivia face-off with a minute on their clocks. They attempt to answer correctly and accumulate additional time for the Big Sweep round. The quiz comprises product/price related questions and ones that test teams’ general awareness of pop culture.

The latter part of each episode sees participants running around a studio mock-up of a supermarket to collect the most valuable items from an assortment of sections — dairy and baked goods, snacks to home care products. Giving the ‘add-to-cart’ experience a new dimension, the winning team is one that rings up the highest billing at the checkout counter! Led by host Rylan Clark-Neal, Supermarket Sweep, UK is all set to thrill Indian audiences on Zee Zest. The show will keep viewers on edge as they get to witness some downright wacky challenges and the trolley dash retained from the ’90s version of the show.
