With Uday Shankar moving on as President, The Walt Disney Company APAC and Chairman Star & Disney India at the end of this month, Rebecca Campbell, Chairman, International Operations and Direct-to-Consumer, The Walt Disney Company, announced today that the company will now have separate heads for APAC and India.
In an internal communication to the staff, Campbell said that a leader for the company’s India business will be named in early 2021. “In the interim, K Madhavan, Head of Star and Sunil Ryan, Head of Disney+ Hotstar India will report to me,” she wrote.

Talking about Shankar, Campbell wrote, “As previously announced, Uday Shankar will be leaving us at the end of the month to pursue a new endeavour that will focus on supporting and mentoring a new generation of entrepreneurs. I know you all join me in thanking him for his incredible contributions to the industry, Star and The Walt Disney Company - and wish him all the best.”
Luke Kang will be the new President of The Walt Disney Company Asia Pacific, reporting to Campbell. Kang will oversee the company’s business in Australia/New Zealand, Greater China, Japan, Korea and Southeast Asia.
