11 Indians in Effies APAC advertising Awards 2020 jury

Eleven Indians have found place so far in this year's Effies APAC advertising awards jury. The selected judges are from agencies, client-side marketers and brands. More names will be introduced in the coming weeks. The Asia Pacific Effie Awards honours the region’s most outstanding marketing communication works that have proven results in meeting strategic objectives.

Grey’s Arun Raman, Havas’ Rana Barua and Charu Aggarwal, The Womb’s Kawal Shoor, Iris’s Paroma Ganguly, Thomas Cook’s Abraham Alapatt, Aditya Birla Health Insurance’s Darsana Shah, ICICI Prudential’s Manish Dubey, The Indian Hotels’ Veetika Deoras and Quorev’s Sanchit Sanga are the jury members from India, followed by Publicis Groupe’s Anupriya Acharya among the first two Heads of Jury.

Acharya said, "Effies is the most-recognised accolade that champions marketing effectiveness for the longest time — some of the best work gets celebrated here. I am honoured as well as excited to be appointed as a Head of Jury for the APAC Effies. I am sure we will get to see some incredible work from all around the region."

In 2019, India secured 34 shortlists at APAC Effies. Ogilvy India, McCann Worldgroup and The Womb dominated the Indian shortlists.

In 2018, 20 metals were brought to India with Ogilvy & Mather Mumbai, The Womb and Medulla Communications winning a Gold Effie each.

This year’s Jury is made up of some of the brightest and most experienced business leaders — CEOs, marketers, strategists, creative directors, media and research professionals. Entries are judged in two phases. The highest-scoring cases from round one will go to the final round. In both rounds, all elements of an entry — written case and creative elements — are judged and scoring is done anonymously and confidentially.

David Porter, Vice-President of Global Media at Unilever AAR (markets outside Europe and the Americas), is the Chairman of the 2020 edition of the awards.

This is the first time the APAC Effie Awards will be led by a client-side marketing professional.

The last campaign submission day was January 17 and February and March are the judging months. The awards gala will be on sometime in May.

The latest updates on the competition may be accessed via the awards website at www.apaceffie.com.
