Adidas goes all out for 'Run for the Oceans' on June 8 in Mumbai

In 2019, adidas is upping the pace of change for its global movement with Run for the Oceans. The introduction of the 2019 Parley range will see the company produce a landmark 11 million pairs of shoes using upcycled marine plastic waste.

The campaign this year will also unite several runners in different locations than ever before, to lace up and Run for The Oceans to reach its increased goal of $1.5 million. For every kilometer completed between June 8 and 16, adidas will contribute $1 to Parley Ocean School programs. With every dollar going towards the next phase of the partnership with the development and launch of the Parley youth activist platform.

While RFTO is a global movement, closer home in India, adidas has given the movement further wings by associating with Adv. Afroz Shah, the UN Champion of Earth 2016. The Run for the Oceans is scheduled for Saturday, June 8, 2019 at the Versova beach.

adidas has further stepped up the environmental responsibility with a unique experiential zone at High Street Phoenix, Lower Parel in Mumbai to educate the consumers about the perils of marine plastic pollution. The installation is open for public to visit between June 2 to June 9, 2019.

The installation makes an alarming impact as the 13 feet x 10 feet high 3D whale with waste plastic demonstrating the current reality of underwater hazards and destroying the marine life. The opening day witnessed parents and children in thousands experiencing the education zone and making a pledge to join the global movement and support the cause. An autorickshaw has been stationed at the setup with a narrative on how marine plastic crisis has become critically urgent. The education zone also exhibits the contribution by adidas to finding solutions with the display of the new Alphabounce+ Parley crafted from upcycled plastic waste delivering eco-innovation and style without compromising on performance.

A registration center at the setup is the call to action for encouraging people to sign up for the Run for the Oceans Movement on June 8 at Versova beach.

adidas in its endeavor to further sensitize the climate emergency is also inspiring the larger universe to join the movement at the  Carter Road promenade with the adidas runway. The adidas Runway is a 1km stretch along the sea, giving everyone the motivational running vibes that we need with educational hoardings all along reiterating the message on marine plastic pollution. adidas Runners, brand ambassador, store staff and employees are undertaking the running sessions on the promenade with the urgency on creating awareness & urging Mumbai to take charge.

The actions are an effort towards the Run for the Oceans event ensuring more and more people are made aware of how marine plastic pollution will cost the future generations.
