BCCI retains Paytm as its title sponsor for five years

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced that One 97 Communications (Paytm) has acquired the title sponsorship rights for BCCI’s international and domestic match seasons from 2019 to 2023.

Paytm won the five-year deal with BCCI for Rs 326.80 crore for the period 2019-23. The winning bid was Rs 3.80 crore, which is at 58% incremental value in comparison to the previous per match value of Rs 2.4 crore.

Rahul Johri, BCCI, CEO, said, “I’m pleased to announce Paytm as the BCCI home series title sponsor. Paytm is one of the new generation companies of India and we at the BCCI are proud of Paytm continuing its long-standing commitment with Indian cricket.”

This is the second time in a row that Paytm is associating with BCCI as a title sponsor. In 2015, Paytm had inked a five-year deal with BCCI for the title sponsorship rights of the Indian team for Rs 203.28 crore.

Vijay Shekhar Sharma, Founder and CEO, Paytm, said, "We are excited to continue our long-term association with BCCI and the Indian cricket team. Our commitment to Indian cricket gets stronger with every season. India loves cricket and we at Paytm are the biggest fans of it.”

India's home season consisting of three T20s and three tests will start with South Africa tour from September 15. In July, education and learning app BYJU’S also replaced mobile brand Oppo as the official Team India sponsor from September 5, 2019, to March 31, 2022. Oppo and BCCI’s five-year deal was supposed to end in 2022.
