VMLY&R hires Sujay Kar as Commerce Group Lead, SEA and India

Based in Mumbai, Kar will be responsible for leading commerce strategy and building practice and business across markets in the region. His last stint was with Reliance Jio

VMLY&R, the global marketing agency, has appointed Sujay Kar as Commerce Group Lead, SEA and India. Kar will lead the agency’s growing commerce business in the region.

Kar is based in VMLY&R Mumbai but will be responsible for leading the commerce strategy and building both the practice and business across markets in SEA and India.

Kar has joined VMLY&R from Reliance Jio, where he was Deputy GM, ecommerce, handling digital campaigns and engagement, driving customer acquisitions, engagement, and retention for online products across Jio.com and Jio Apps, and across major ecommerce and payment platforms like Amazon, Flipkart and PayTM.

From foundational activities such as building commerce stores for brands on owned websites and market places and optimising traffic and conversions, to enhancing omni-channel experience for customers with the help of data, machine learning and CRM,  Kar leads the team in integrating commerce-thinking into marketing practices.
