Karan Bajaj, Head, Discovery Networks International, India/South Asia, has put down his papers, as announced by JB Parrett, President and CEO of the network.
Bajaj will stay on in his current role, till the network finds a suitable replacement for him. He had joined Discovery Networks in July 2016.
Bajaj has played a short but significant role in the networks' India journey. The first and only general entertainment experiment by the netowkr was Jeet, which happened in India, under Bajaj's leadership. He was also instrumental in getting out a lot of digital products and platforms to drive cusomter acquisition to another level. In addition to these, it was under Bajaj's tenure that the network invested heavily in its kids' product taking it to the top three channels. Recognising these achievements in the email announcing, Perrette wished him luck.
"The company looks forward to continuing with same rigour and ambition, even as the leader in India is poised to change shortly," wrote Perrette.
Bajaj will stay on for few more months till a replacement is found.
Bajaj has over 17 years of brand management and digital strategy experience across Asia and North America. Before coming to Discovery, Bajaj was with baby specialist Aden and Anais in New York where he spearheaded marketing, design and advertising as Chief Marketing Officer, specialising in digital approaches. Prior to that, he was in a variety of senior strategy and brand leadership roles with Kraft, Boston Consulting Group and Procter & Gamble. He was named a Top 40 Under 40 US Executive by Advertising Age in 2008.
A best-selling novelist and striving yogi, Bajaj balances his professional career with personal creativity and spirituality. His novels Keep off the Grass and Johnny Gone Down launched his literary career. In June this year, he had his first international novel release - The Yoga of Max's Discontent. Bajaj holds a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from IIM Bangalore and Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering from Birla Institute of Technology.
