GEC Watch: Colors displaces Sony from the top position in urban market

In the week 38 of 2018, Star Utsav and Colors have both gained numbers significantly, to climb to the top three spots, in the U+R segment

Riding on the launch of Bigg Boss 12, Colors toppled Sony to grab the top position in the urban market as per BARC India’s viewership data. Zee Anmol maintained its top spot in the U+R and rural markets in Week 38 of 2018 (September 15-21). Star Utsav and Colors have both gained numbers significantly, to climb to the top three spots, in the U+R segment. Colors’ Naagin-3 re-entered the rural market.

Amongst the most watched shows list, Colors’ Dance Deewane re-entered the U+R top shows’ list. There were no changes in the rural segment.

Top channels in U+R markets

As per select BARC India data for Week 38 of 2018 (September 15-21) for HSM (U+R): NCCS All: 2+ Individuals, Zee Anmol remained at the leadership position in the U+R markets with 861.115 million (last week 814.441   million) Impressions. Star Utsav jumped to No.2 garnering702.196 million (last week 684.456   million). Colors jumped to No 3 from No. 6 spot, garnering 695.563million (last week 627.968  million).Zee TV dropped by three spots to No.4 clocking 695.563 million (last week 689.824 million). At No.5 is Star with 695.563 million (last week 645.590 million) Impressions. Sony Entertainment Television dropped jumped to No. 6 from No. 8 by clocking571.360 million (last week 602.756 million). Star Bharat secured No.7 spot clocking 567.817 million (last week 645.481 million) Impressions. Sony Pal gained one spot and stood at No. 8 spot clocking 536.054 million (last week 612.125 million) Impressions. Rishtey remained at No. 9 position with 454.365 million (last week 488.785million) Impressions. At No. 10 is Sony SAB with 436.191million (last week 425.972 million) impressions.

Top shows in U+R markets

Colors’ Naagin-3 clocked 15.402 million (last week 14.422 million) Impressions, leading the most-watched programmes’ list in the U+R segment. Zee Anmol’s Kumkum Bhagya grabbed the No. 2 garnering13.387 (last week 13.804 million) Impressions. Colors’ Dance Dewane-GF stood at No.3 with 10.861million Impressions. Zee TV’s Kundali Bhagya dropped to
No. 4 with 10.194 (last week 14.071 million) Impressions. As per select data {HSM (U+R): NCCS All: Prime Time (1800 - 2330 hours): 2+ Individuals}. Zee TV’s Kumkum Bhagya stood at No. 5 garnering 9.598 million (last week 12.407 million) Impressions.

Colors grabbed the top position in week 38 in the urban markets gaining 474.372 million Impressions (last week 431.405 million) Impression.Star Plus remained at No 2 with 427.416 million (last week 455.440 million) Impressions. Sony Entertainment Television dropped to No.3 grabbing427.364 million (last week 458.502 million) Impressions. Zee TV remained at No. 4 clocked 378.381 million (last week 410.794 million) Impressions. Sony SAB jumped by a point to No. 5 that clocked 326.981 million (last week 318.293 million) Impressions. Zee Anmol’s Mehak dropped to No.3 in the rural markets gathering 6.393 million (last week 6.549 million) Impressions. At No.4, Sony Pal’s Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltaah Chashmah clocked 5.341 million (last week 6.310 million) Impressions. Colors’ Naagin-3 re-entered the market garnering 5.244 million Impressions.
