Colors Bangla brings mythological extravaganza Manasa

The mystical tales of Gods and Goddesses have fascinated the consciousness and minds of all. Showcasing another such enchanting tale, Colors Bangla launches the magnum opus mythological extravaganza, Manasa, which encapsulates the journey of a deprived woman’s tirade against the male domination of our society, starting Monday, January 29, daily at 7pm.

Manasa is the snake Goddess, whose myths emphasise her erratic temper and despondency, deep-rooted in the constant rejection by her father Lord Shiva, her husband Sage Jagatkaru and the hatred of her stepmother Goddess Chandi. It is the melancholic saga of a lonely Goddess who perpetually is the victim of the male chauvinistic behaviour prevalent even among celestial Gods, who oppose her right to be worshipped as a Goddess.

Essaying the role of Goddess Manasa, Chandni Saha, popularly known for her performance in Benebou, said, “The character of portraying a Goddess comes with immense responsibility, along with the challenges of the role. Manasa is my first mythological show and I’m preparing for it in every way through extensive research and rehearsals. Goddess Manasa is considered as one of the formidable deities in Hindu mythology and I’m delighted to portray such a role of such magnitude.”
