Dangal enters the U+R channels' list replacing Sony Entertainment Television at No. 9 in Week 34. Zee Anmol and Star Plus continue leading the respective GEC flocks

GEC Watch: Sony out from top-10 in U+R markets

Zee Anmol continued to lead the Hindi GEC genre in the U+R and rural markets in Week 34 of 2018 (August 18-24). As per BARC India data, Star Plus too maintained its leadership position in the urban segment. Dangal entered the U+R channels’ list, replacing Sony Entertainment Television at No. 9.

Among the most-watched shows’ list, Dangal TV’s Mahima Shanidev Ki was a surprise entry in the rural markets. Most other shows in the top lists remained the same.

Top channels in U+R markets

As per select BARC India data for Week 34 of 2018 (August 18-24) for HSM (U+R): NCCS All: 2+ Individuals, Zee Anmol remained at the leadership position in the U+R markets with 805.449 million (last week 760.162 million) Impressions. Star Utsav stayed at the No. 2 spot garnering 672.076 million (last week 702.233 million) Impressions. At No. 3, Star Bharat grabbed 653.136 million (last week 613.947 million) Impressions, climbing two spots. Star Plus dropped to No. 4 with 642.423 million (last week 659.629 million) Impressions, followed by Colors, which climbed to No. 5, garnering 601.063 million (last week 578.653 million) Impressions. Zee TV gained marginal numbers to stay at the No. 6 spot in this week, clocking 598.974 million (last week 585.372 million) Impressions. Sony Pal slipped to No. 7 position, clocking 587.936 million (last week 616.717 million) Impressions. Rishtey stood at No. 8 position with 515.872 million (last week 512.119 million) Impressions. Dangal replaced Sony Entertainment Television at No. 9 by clocking 491.650 million (last week 455.355 million) Impressions. Sony Sab stayed at the trailing end at No. 10, clocking 471.094 million (last week 444.958 million) Impressions.

Top shows in U+R markets

Colors’ Naagin-3 clocked 15.528 million (last week 14.905 million) Impressions, leading the most-watched programmes’ list in the U+R segment. Zee Anmol’s Kumkum Bhagya sprang up to No. 2 garnering 12.553 million (last week 11.009 million) Impressions. As per select data {HSM (U+R): NCCS All: Prime Time (1800 - 2330 hours): 2+ Individuals}, Zee TV’s Kundali Bhagya grabbed the third spot with 12.205 million Impressions. Zee TV’s Kumkum Bhagya came in next by clocking 11.229 million (last week 12.529 million) Impressions. At No. 5, Star Plus’ Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlaata Hai clocked 10.994 million (last week 11.479 million) Impressions.

Top channels in urban markets

Star Plus continued to be at the top spot in Week 34 in the urban markets with 442.142 million (last week 452.933 million) Impressions, despite losing numbers. Colors in turn gained close to 17 million Impressions staying at No. 2, garnering 417.313 million (last week 400.613 million) Impressions. Zee TV, meanwhile, at No. 3 clocked 356.511 million (last week 355.705 million) Impressions, followed by Sony SAB at No. 4 that clocked 352.806 million (last week 330.276 million) Impressions. Sony Entertainment Television, at No. 5, grabbed 349.049 million (last week 340.689 million) Impressions. At No. 6, Star Bharat garnered 309.917 million (last week 295.310 million) Impressions. Star Utsav at No. 7 garnered 191.798 million (last week 202.136 million) Impressions, followed by Sony Pal that stood at No. 8 with 171.388 million (last week 178.308 million) Impressions. Zee Anmol at No. 9 registered 158.969 million (last week 160.515 million) Impressions. &TV was at the last spot clocking 136.050 million (last week 132.254 million) Impressions.

Top programmes in urban markets           

Colors’ Naagin-3 remained the most-watched show in the urban markets with 10.743 million (last week 9.919 million) Impressions, followed by Star Plus’ Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai that garnered 8.089 million (last week 8.152 million) Impressions. Colors’ Dance Deewane climbed to No. 3 with 7.451 million (last week 6.655 million) Impressions. As per select data {HSM (urban): NCCS All: Prime Time (1800-2330 hours): 2+ Individuals}, Zee TV’s Kundali Bhagya was at the fourth spot in the most-watched shows’ list, by clocking 7.368 million (last week 7.529 million) Impressions in the urban market. Sab’s Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah was at the last spot with 6.983 million Impressions.

Top channels in rural markets

Zee Anmol held on to the top spot with 646.480 million (last week 599.647 million) Impressions. Star Utsav was at No. 2 position garnering 480.278 million (last week 500.096 million) Impressions. Sony Pal stayed at No. 3 in rural markets garnering 416.548 million (last week 438.408 million) Impressions. Rishtey climbed a spot up, to reach No. 4 with 392.982 million (last week 385.097 million) Impressions. Dangal, at No. 5, clocked 390.335 million (last week 321.624 million) Impressions. Star Bharat, at No. 6 in the rural markets, recorded 343.219 million (last week 318.637 million) Impressions. Zee TV stayed at No. 7 with 242.463 million (last week 229.668 million) Impressions. Big Magic followed with 220.287 million (last week 228.622 million) Impressions. Star Plus, at No. 9, garnered 200.281 million (last week 206.696 million) Impressions. Colors at No. 10 clocked 183.751 million (last week 178.040 million) Impressions.

Top programmes in rural markets 

Zee Anmol’s Kumkum Bhagya was the most-watched show in the rural market grabbing 10.430 million (last week 8.982 million). Star Utsav’s Rabba Ve rose to the No. 2 spot in top shows’ list garnering 6.527 million (last week 6.321 million) Impressions. Zee Anmol’s Mehak was at the third spot in the rural markets gathering 6.254 million (last week 6.012 million) Impressions, followed by Sony Pal’s Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah that clocked 6.249 million (last week 6.381 million) Impressions. For the first time, Dangal TV’s Mahima Shanidev Ki entered the most-watched shows’ list at No. 5 with 4.988 million Impressions.
