Ashish Bagga quits as Group CEO of India Today Group

Ashish Bagga, Group CEO, India Today Group has decided to move on after having spent 15 years with the company. As per the sources close to the development, Bagga’s exit was communicated to the employees in an internal email sent by Aroon Purie, Chairman and Editor-in-Chief of India Today Group.

As Group CEO, Bagga has spearheaded the group’s foray into a diversified multimedia play with e-commerce, transit retail and education besides direct to consumer and the digital business. He has forged strong relationships for ITG with leading international media groups such as US based Hearst Corp, Germany’s Axel Springer and Daily Mail of UK.

This was Bagga’s second stint at the company as he had started his career with the India Today Group in 1983. During his first stint of about eight years, he had launched Music Today, the video magazine. Bagga joined the organisation again in 2003 as the executive director of the Group.

Between the two stints at India Today Group, he had worked at IV Communications, a cable-and-satellite venture, Hindustan Times Group and Financial Times, London.

Bagga has also headed the key industry bodies including News Broadcasters Association (NBA), Indian Newspaper Society (INS) and Association of Indian Magazines (AIM).
