Vijay Parasuraman replaces Debabrata Mukherjee as Marketing Head of Coca-Cola India

Mukherjee will now take charge as Vice-President for South West Asia. Parasuraman has joined back from China and has held multiple assignments in the marketing department

Debabrata Mukherjee, Vice-President, Marketing, Coca-Cola India, is moving back to operations as Vice-President, South West Asia (SWA), after a four-year tenure as marketing lead. Vijay Parasuraman will succeed Mukherjee as the Vice-President, Marketing, who is joining back from China. Parasuraman joined the HCCB in 2001 and has held multiple assignments in the marketing department.

Mukherjee started his career in operations and has done stints in marketing in both India and abroad. In a note to, the company said, “His going back to the general management operations role is with the aim of catapulting the South West Asia businesses to a significant growth; these markets have shown tremendous potential in the past few years.”

Sundeep Bajoria has joined as the Vice-President, Strategy and Insights, for India and South West Asia BU. Bajoria has over 19 years of experience within and outside the Coca-Cola system in strategy, commercial finance and financial analysis and insights. He came back to India from Global Finance team based in Dubai.

Asim Parekh, Head of Strategy and Insights, has taken up the challenging responsibility to build and lead the new Fruit and Agriculture Circular Economy initiatives of the company.

Shehnaz Gill has assumed his new role as the head of operations for India in the first week of June. His appointment was announced earlier this year. Gill re-joined Coca-Cola India system after serving as Vice-President and General Manager, Upstate New York and Pennsylvania for Coca-Cola Refreshments. He started his career about 13 years ago with HCCB. The note mentioned that this move is seen in the light of the company getting ready for an integrated national market as a result of the GST.

Sumanta Datta, Vice-President, South West Asia (SWA), has decided to pursue his career outside of the company. Datta has had a magnificent career across sales operations and marketing both in India and abroad for over 22 years with the organisation.

“As you recall, Coca-Cola India and South West Asia had already initiated changes in the leadership beginning early 2016, starting with the advent of our new CFO Sarvita Sethi from the European business unit. These were all planned career moves to renew the talent pool in the leadership team and bringing a host of homegrown talents back to the country and the region,” said the note.

The note further stated, “You will appreciate that changes in leadership takes time and these are by far the concluding changes that are all set to execute the business growth plan in the region under the leadership of T Krishna Kumar (KK), who took over as the Business Unit President for India and South West Asia.”
