Hakuhodo Percept appoints Samir Datar as Senior Vice-President

Datar will be based in Delhi and will be involved in strategic efforts in managing accounts of key businesses

Hakuhodo Percept has strengthened its planning team by appointing Samir Datar as Senior Vice-President, Planning. Datar moves from Grey, Delhi, and will be based in Delhi. He will be involved in the strategic efforts in account management on some of the key businesses, including Maruti Suzuki.

Confirming Datar’s appointment, Elvis Sequeira, Chief Operating Officer, Hakuhodo India, said, “Hakuhodo is a young, nimble organisation that is in a continuous cycle of transformation and change. And nothing excites us more than trying unconventional things — and that includes our talent acquisition policy. We are gradually moving towards becoming a seamless, department-less ideas company. Samir is a fabulous fit for where we want to go. He’s both planning and account management in equal measure and his experience, background and maturity are added bonuses. Datar has spent over 20 years in advertising, working on brands like Maggi, Samsung, LG, Hyundai and ESPN across agency brands that include J. Walter Thompson, Cheil and HS Ads among others. In his time as Head of Grey Delhi, he rebuilt the government business with Swachh Bharat, Indian Air Force, Indian Navy and Indian Coastguard. Datar is an avid reader of fiction and an active blogger. He is a keen student of customer-centric marketing, and even draws insights by observing human behaviour at coffee shops and malls.

On taking charge of his new assignment at Hakuhodo Percept, Datar said, “After meeting the core leadership team, I realised Hakuhodo is a very exciting place to be.
