Star Plus remained on top in Urban and U+R combined markets, while Sony Pal stayed put at No. 1 in the Rural markets. According to data released by BARC India for the Hindi general entertainment channels (GECs) for Week 11 of 2017 (March 11 to 17), there was a shuffling in the most watched shows list across the three markets.

The numbers have grown for most of the players in the Hindi GEC flock.

Top channels in U+R markets

As per select BARC India data for Week 11 of 2017 for HSM (U+R): NCCS All : 2+ Individuals, Star Plus strengthened its No. 1 position with 744.974 million Impressions. At No. 2, Colors witnessed a slight drop in viewership at 612.603 million Impressions. Sony Pal rose to No. 3 with 574.333 million Impressions while Zee TV followed with 537.768 million Impressions. Rishtey stood at No. 5 with 503.153 million Impressions. Zee Anmol is at No. 6 with 459.800 million Impressions. At No. 7, Sony SAB garnered 448.564 million Impressions. Sony Entertainment Television went marginally up at No. 8 with 445.854 million Impressions while Star Utsav stood at No. 9 with 432.893 million Impressions. Life OK was at No. 10 with 388.575 million Impressions.

 

Top programmes in U+R markets

As per select data {HSM (Urban+Rural): NCCS All: Prime Time (1800 – 2330 hrs): 2+ Individuals}, Colors'Naagin – Season 2 sprang back on top with a marginal difference from No. 2. It garnered 12.171 million Impressions. Zee TV's Kumkum Bhagya meanwhile came back to No. 2 with 12.061 million Impressions. Star Plus' Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai stood at No. 3 with 10.941 million Impressions. Sony SAB's Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah stood at No. 4 with 9.562 million Impressions. At No. 5, Saath Nibhaana Saathiya on Star Plus garnered 9.017 million Impressions.

Top channels in Urban markets

Star Plus retained its leadership with 481.010 million Impressions. At No. 2, Colors garnered 409.617 million Impressions. Sony Entertainment Television climbed to No. 3 with 306.478 million Impressions while Zee TV is at No. 4 with 297.596 million Impressions. Sony SAB is at No. 5 with 292.718 million Impressions. Life OK stood at No. 6 with 237.194 million Impressions followed by Sony Pal which garnered 149.054 million Impressions. At No. 8, &TV garnered 142.488 million Impressions. Rishtey stood at No. 9 with 121.355 million Impressions and Star Utsav took the tenth place with 109.928 million Impressions.

Top programmes in Urban markets

As per select data {HSM (Urban): NCCS All: Prime Time (1800 – 2330 hrs): 2+ Individuals}, Colors' Naagin- Season 2 led the top programmes list with 7.732 million Impressions. Star Plus' Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai climbed up to No. 2 with 7.168 million Impressions. Zee TV's Kumkum Bhagya slipped to No. 3 with 6.793 million Impressions. At No. 4, Sony SAB's Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah garnered 6.469 million Impressions. Sony's The Kapil Sharma Show stood at No. 5 with 6.095 million Impressions.

Top channels in Rural markets

Sony Pal continued to lead the rural markets garnering 425.279 million Impressions. Rishtey was at second position with 381.798 million Impressions. Zee Anmol slipped to No. 3 with 362.940 million Impressions. Star Utsav stood at No. 4 with 322.965 million Impressions. Star Plus was at No. 5 with 263.964 million Impressions. Zee TV held on to No. 6 position with 240.172 million Impressions followed by Colors with 202.985 million Impressions. At No. 8, Sony SAB garnered 155.846 million Impressions. Life Ok stood at No. 9 with 151.381 million Impressions and Sony Entertainment Television reentered the list at the trailing end with 139.375 million Impressions.

Top programmes in Rural markets

Naagin Season 2 on Rishtey stood at No 1 position with 6.059 million Impressions, pushing Sony Pal's Baalveer to the second position with 5.554 million Impressions. Zee Anmol's Jodha Akbar is at No. 3 with 5.277 million Impressions. Zee TV's Kumkum Bhagya stood at No. 4 with 5.102 million Impressions. Zee Anmol's Afsar Bitiya is at No. 5 with 5.063 million Impressions.
