Putting to rest all the recent rumours, Sony Entertainment Television and Kapil Sharma have renewed their partnership for another year. The channel had brought Sharma on board last year in April to launch The Kapil Sharma Show, which has now become the flagship property of the channel. This show continues to reinvent and maintain itself as the benchmark in comedy entertainment.

Danish Khan, EVP and Head at Sony Entertainment Television, said, “The Kapil Sharma Show bring smiles to millions of viewers every weekend across the globe. Kapil is an extraordinary talent and we are delighted to have further cemented our relationship with extension of this contract. We are confident that the show and its talented cast will continue to enthral the audiences across the globe.”

The show is placed at weekends 9pm slot on the channel. The channel has also launched another comedy show, The Drama Company, at weekends 8pm slot featuring Sharma’s archi-rival Krushna Abhishek and others including Mithun Chakraborty as Shambu Dada, the ring master of a crew of highly misfit characters including Ali Asgar, Sanket Bhosale, Sugandha Mishra, Abhishek, Sudesh Lehri, Ridhima Pandit, Tanaji and Aru Verma.

Sharma said, “I am deeply touched with the warmth and love the audience has showered on us over the years. It’s their belief and undying devotion that encourages us to continue to reinvent ourselves and bring smiles to every household week on week. I am grateful to Sony Entertainment Channel for believing in me and our show and supporting us in creating and bringing unlimited entertainment to every household every weekend.”

Sharma has always been at the centre of controversies, though the rumours became grave as Sharma reportedly got involved in a fight between his co-workers Chandan Prabhakar and Sunil Grover. There were a lot of discussions in media and around, which suggested the channel might not renew actor-producer Sharma’s contract. Proving all wrong, the channel has however extended the contract for another year.
