GEC Watch: Star Plus regains top spot in U+R, Colors adds maximum viewership

The final match of ICC Champions Trophy played between India and Pakistan scored a whopping 22 million Impressions while a general number one programme on any other day scores anywhere between 11-13 million

In Week 25 (June 17-23) of BARC India data, the rankings of the channels have shuffled in the urban and rural combined markets. Colors and Zee Anmol have gained significant numbers, while Sony Pal has lost slipping to No.3 position in the U+R markets. The final match of ICC Champions Trophy, played between India and Pakistan stole the stage from all the GEC programming.

The match scored a whopping 22 million Impressions, while a general number one programme on any other day scores anywhere between 11-13 million. Rural audiences have responded to the match more positively than the urban audiences.

Top channels in U+R markets

As per select BARC India data for Week 25 (June 17-23) of 2017 for HSM (U+R): NCCS All: 2+ Individuals, Star Plus reclaimed its top spot with 593.712 million Impressions, while Zee Anmol climbed up to No. 2 with 580.287 million Impressions. Sony Pal slipped to No. 3 with 560.468 million Impressions. Rishtey at No. 4 with 546.014 million Impressions followed by its sister channel Colors with 496.646 million Impressions. Colors added maximum viewership in U+R markets to jump two positions up from last week’s No. 7. At No. 6, Zee TV garnered 479.152 million Impressions. Sony SAB at No. 7 with 445.866 million Impressions. DD National continued to be on No. 8 with 417.285 million Impressions, followed by Sony Entertainment Television at No. 9 with 379.146 million Impressions. Life OK trailed at No. 10 with 346.293 million Impressions.

Top programmes in U+R markets

As per select data {HSM (urban+rural): NCCS All: Prime Time (1800 - 2330 hours): 2+ Individuals}, DD National’s ICC Champions Trophy finals Pakistan and India topped the most watched programmes’ list with 22.525 million Impressions. Zee TV’s Kumkum Bhagya and Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Little Champs ranked No. 2 and 3 with 9.764 million Impressions and 9.523 million Impressions. Colors’ Naagin-Season 2 stood at No. 4 with 9.332 million Impressions. Star Plus’s Yeh Rishta Kay Kehlata Hai slipped to No. 5 with 8.624 million Impressions.

Star Plus retained its urban lead with 400.256 million Impressions. Colors climbed to No. 2 place with 332.766 million Impressions. Sony SAB slipped to No. 3 with 309.667 million Impressions while Zee TV stayed at No. 4 with 287.719 million Impressions. Sony Entertainment Television too stayed at No. 5 with 274.566 million Impressions. Life OK stood at No. 6 with 221.025 million Impressions. DD National stood at No. 7 with 173.410 million Impressions while Sony Pal remained to No. 8 with 154.727 million Impressions. Rishtey slipped to No. 9 with 129.851 million Impressions and &TV stood at No. 10 with 128.264 million Impressions.

Zee Anmol climbed to lead the rural markets garnering 460.492 million Impressions. Rishtey too remained on the second position with 416.163 million Impressions and Sony Pal slipped to No. 3 with 405.741 million Impressions. DD National stood at No. 4 with 243.874 million Impressions while Star Utsav too stayed at No. 5 with 222.847 million Impressions. Star Plus stood at No. 6 with 193.456 million Impressions while Zee TV too remained at No. 7 with 191.432 million Impressions. Big Magic stood at No. 8 with 181.942 million Impressions. Colors was at No. 9 with 163.880 million Impressions. Sony SAB followed with 136.198 million Impressions.

Top programmes in Rural markets

DD National’s ICC Champions Trophy finals Pakistan versus India topped the programmes’ list with 13.894 million Impressions. Zee Anmol’s Jamai Raja stood at No. 2 with 6.064 million Impressions. At No. 3, Rishtey’s Naagin - Season 2 garnered 5.004 million Impressions. Sony Pal’s Baalveer and Zee Anmol’s Tashan-e-Ishq trailed at No. 4 and 5 with and 4.624 million Impressions and 4.543 million Impressions.
