Jagran Group’s Mumbai newspaper Mid-day has refreshed its comics and games section and the new addition is the launch of India’s first comic strip on visual disability. The comic strip kicked off on May 1 in the paper’s Sunday edition.
Titled ‘You & Eye’, it’s a collaborative effort between Mid-day, illustrator Nala Ponnappa, former journalist Krishna Warrier and Dr Sam Taraporevala, Director at Xavier’s Resource Centre for the Visually Challenged (XRCVC). Dr Taraporevala suffers from 100% visual disability and has led the sociology department of St Xavier’s College for two decades.
Sandeep Khosla, CEO, Mid-day, said, “To constantly innovate is our endeavour. The new avatar of the Timepass section is a step towards offering the best in content to our readers.”
The section will also see the introduction of Dr Love, an expert who solves relationship riddles in a confusing digital age; a brand new set of puzzles and games; a crossword that tests your grasp of Mumbai; an environment comic by Rohan Chakravarty, and of course, the very popular Bollywood crossword and daily horoscope.
