Doordarshan has come up with a new policy of selling slots to producers in the general entertainment genre to revamp content and marketing on its national and regional channels.
The policy encourages private entrepreneurs to Make for India’s cutting-edge programming with a commitment for providing wholesome family entertainment.
The slots will be offered through e-auction for a period of three years. The rollout of the slot sale will commence for the channel’s flagship DD National in its primetime slots and will be progressively extended to other slots and channels. The inventory for sale in a 30-minute slot will be four minutes.
Slot price increase is to be based on half-yearly reviews through a transparent mechanism linked to the ratings achieved in the slot.
The channel’s base price is designed keeping in view the content environment and market economics to attract bidders. Slots available for bidding would be for a sequence of slots for daily strips on weekdays and weekends.
