GEC Watch: Star Plus at No. 1 in urban; Rishtey at No. 1 in rural

Rishtey dethroned Sony Pal from the top spot in rural markets, while the combined markets flock and the urban flock saw a re-entry of Sony Entertainment Television’s dance reality show Super Dancer

In Week 49 (December 3-9) of BARC data, Star Plus lead the U+R combined markets and the urban market flocks, while Rishtey dethroned Sony Pal from the top spot in rural markets. Super Dancer, Sony’s reality dance show entered the most watched shows’ list in the urban and combined markets.

Largely, the rankings remained same in all the markets, but the top programmes did see quite a few changes.

Top Channels in U+R markets

In combined (U+R) markets, Star Plus remained at its top position with 653.181 million Impressions, followed by Colors which also stayed at No. 2 with 648.782 million Impressions. Zee TV was at No. 3 with 451.639 million Impressions followed by Sony Entertainment Television which also held on to No. 4 with 431.993 million Impressions. Sony Pal at No.5 gained 428.522 million Impressions, while Rishtey, at No. 6 got 424.356 million Impressions. Life OK climbed one spot to come at No. 7 with 395.131million Impressions. Slipping by one position, Zee Anmol at No. 8 clocked 379.534 million Impressions, followed by Sony SAB and Star Utsav that stood at the trailing end at No. 9 and 10 with 370.495 million Impressions and 333.564 million Impressions, respectively.

Top Programmes in U+R markets

Colors’ Naagin Season 2 topped the list with 15.055 million Impressions followed by Zee TV’s Kumkum Bhagya that got 11.280 million Impressions in Week 49. Naagin on Rishtey stood at No. 3 with 11.097 million Impressions, while Star Plus’ Saath Nibhaana Saathiya which slipped by two spots, garnered 9.963 million Impressions. A re-entry to the list was that of Sony Entertainment Television’s dance reality show Super Dancer which stood at No. 5 with 9.796 million Impressions.

Top Channels in Urban markets

Star Plus stayed at No. 1 position in the urban markets with 438.092 million Impressions, while Colors at No. 2 garnered 436.325 million Impressions. Sony Entertainment Television took the third position with 308.322 million Impressions, followed by Sony SAB which clocked 270.767 million Impressions. Zee TV, at No. 4 garnered 263.715 million Impressions. Life OK followed at No. 6 with 251.905 million Impressions while &TV was at No. 7 with 135.508 million Impressions. Sony Pal stood at No. 8 with 107.554 million Impressions. Rishtey stood at No. 9 with 97.539 million Impressions. Zee Anmol trailed at No. 10 with 91.111 million Impressions.

Top Programmes in Urban markets

As per select data {HSM (Urban): NCCS All: Prime Time (1800 – 2330 hrs): 4+ Individuals}, Colors’ Naagin Season 2 led with 9.370 million Impressions. Zee TV’s Kumkum Bhagya re-entered the list at No. 2 with 7.005 million Impressions. Sony Entertainment Television programmes grabbed the next two spots with its properties The Kapil Sharma Show (6.737 million Impressions) and Super Dancer (6.510 million Impressions) at No. 3 and 4 spots, respectively. Star Plus’ Saath Nibhaana Saathiya stood at No. 5 garnering 6.378 million Impressions.

Top Channels in Rural markets

Rishtey climbed at the No. 1 spot with 326.817 million Impressions, while Sony Pal slipped to No. 2 with 320.967 million Impressions. Zee Anmol at No. 3 got 288.423 million Impressions. Star Utsav at No. 4 garnered 253.740 million Impressions, followed by Star Plus with 215.089 million Impressions. Colors stood at No. 6 with 212.457 million Impressions. Zee TV, at No. 7 got 187.923 million Impressions. Life OK stayed to No. 8 spot with 143.226 million Impressions. Big Magic at No. 9 clocked 128.898 million Impressions and Sony Entertainment Television at No. 10 with 123.671 million Impressions.

Top Programmes in Rural markets

As per BARC data, {HSM (Rural): NCCS All: Prime Time (1800 – 2330 hrs): 4+ Individuals}, Rishtey’s Naagin grabbed the first spot amongst the most watched programmes in rural markets by garnering 9.138 million Impressions.  Sony Pal’s Balveer climbed to No. 2 with 5.879 million Impressions. Colors’ Naagin Season 2 stood at No. 3 with 5.686 million Impressions. Zee Anmol’s Jodha Akbar (5331 million Impressions) and Star Utsav’s Saath Nibhaana Saathiya (4885 million Impressions) were at No. 4 and 5, respectively.
