Talk beauty awards and the image that instantly comes to the mind is that of beautiful women gracing the ramp in fabulous clothes. But Amazon's Beauty Awards 2016 acknowledges the people behind all the glitz, glamour and beauty.

From over 15 lakh products and 19,000 brands, Amazon.in's first-ever Beauty Awards 2016 brings forward the country's most-loved beauty products and brands of 2016. The awards, based on consumer ratings and demand (units sold) on Amazon.in, are comprehensive and include 66 categories across skin and body care, hair care, make-up, men's grooming and fragrance.

Lakmé emerged as the number one brand based on consumer preference on Amazon.in with winning products across 13 categories including fairness, sindoor, eye liner, foundation, compact, highlighter, cc cream, mascara, nail polish, lipstick (matte finish and satin finish), lip gloss and coloured kohl. The number two spot was taken up by Maybelline with products gaining consumer trust in six categories, including lip balm, compact, lipstick, eye shadow, eyebrow and kajal. The personal care appliances category saw Philips as the dominating brand winning across categories like epilator, hair dryer, straightener, electric shaver and beard trimmer.

The awards highlighted homegrown brands that emerged as strong players in 2016. Indulekha, a regional South Indian brand, took away the best product award in the hair oil category for Indulekha Bringha Hair Oil. Patanjali Ayurved also made a strong headway to win the best skin gel award for its product Patanjali Aloe Vera Gel.

The awards also covered men's grooming, which is one of the fast emerging categories in India. Some of the winners in men's grooming were Beardo Beard and Hair growth oil, Philips Aquatouch AT620/14 Electric Shaver, Philips QT4011/15 Pro Skin Advance Trimmer and Garnier Acno Fight Face Wash for Men. The recently launched Cinthol Men's Deo Stick has already become one of the best-selling men's grooming products on Amazon.in.

Commenting on the launch of the beauty awards, Meghna Apparao, Category Leader, Beauty, Amazon.in, said, “The growing demand for beauty products among discerning Indian consumers encouraged us to come up with Amazon Beauty Awards that showcase and offer the bestselling beauty and grooming products. In our effort to make beauty shopping easy for our customers, we are excited to offer top beauty and grooming brands from India's largest beauty store – Amazon Beauty Store.”
