cnbc-tv18Business channel CNBC-TV18 is championing the cause of education for underprivileged children in India as a part of its CSR initiative. It is taking up the cause in association with a Mumbai-based NGO, Angel Xpress Foundation, which provides educational support to such kids by way of regular access to educated adults.

The initiative intends to provide quality education to underprivileged children by helping them raise funds and influence more people to volunteer to give some time to teach them. CNBC-TV18 is lending its support to this month-long campaign called 'Ummeed ka Diya', which will run through December.

The channel is encouraging its viewers to take part in the campaign by either volunteering their time for two-three hours at the NGO's free tuition classes or by donating a nominal sum of only Rs 23 a day. The free tuition classes give the underprivileged children an opportunity to understand their respective syllabi better, and face challenges with confidence. This also gives citizens an opportunity to do their bit in community building and be agents of change.

Priyanka Tiku-Tripathi, VP, Marketing, CNBC-TV18, said, “Today's children will make tomorrow's society and to attain sustainable growth, it is important to equip them with good education. Unfortunately, a large segment of our society still can't afford to have that. #UmmeedkaDiya is our effort to provide a genuine platform to our viewers to give back to the society and do their bit in empowering a child's life.”

“Education is considered a birth right in our country and despite innumerable policies in place; we are not maximising our potential when it comes to providing basic learning platforms for a large section of society. Through this collaboration, CNBC-TV18 and Angel Xpress Foundation can create a vast impact as the channel reaches out to lakhs of viewers from all walks of life,” she added.
