Star India appoints Krishnan Kutty as General Manager of English Cluster

Kutty moves from Head of Distribution role to Business Head of Star India's English Movies, English Entertainment and Infotainment channels

Star India has appointed its old hand and distribution head Krishnan Kutty as the General Manager for the English Cluster comprising of its portfolio of English Movies, English Entertainment and Infotainment channels.

It may be recalled that Kevin Vaz, who was heading the English Cluster of Star India along with Star Jalsha and Jalsha Movies, was appointed Business Head of Star Plus, Star Utsav, Life OK, Star Jalsha, Jalsha Movies and Channel V in November last year.

Announcing the movement, Star India COO Sanjay Gupta said in an internal communication, “Kutty has had a remarkable stint in the Distribution business where he managed the dramatic growth of our Distribution vertical from its earlier focus of monitoring and maintaining reach to the current day revenue and monetization objectives. During this period, he spearheaded our key agenda of increasing Star's viewership share across genres and markets. Under his leadership, the team has been successful in achieving our key objectives in a continuously changing environment.”

Kutty had joined Star India in 2005 as Vice President – Research and On Air and was elevated to Executive Vice President – Distribution in 2009. He was appointed Head of Distribution in April last year. With an experience of over 16 years, Kutty also had stints with GroupM, Vodafone and NDTV.
