The ‘People's Choice Awards’ 2015 voted Flipkart ‘Big Billion Day’ as the best online shopping festival

The 3rd edition of the much awaited 'People's Choice Awards’ by, a leading largest cashback & coupons site, is out and the 2015 year results reveal the top online shopping festivals, the factors that encouraged online shopping and the most preferred e-retailer across various product/service categories. The survey also talks about celebrity brand endorsements and their impact on online shopping behaviour.

Flipkart ‘Big Billion Day’ has been regarded as the best online shopping festival, while has been voted as the best e-commerce site in India followed by Flipkart & Paytm. 50% of respondents felt that celebrity brand endorsements do not influence their online shopping behavior.

The survey was conducted at a pan-India level and saw participation of more than 2,000 people. The respondents were from Tier I, II & III cities with 75% male participation and respondents were primarily between the age group of 18-30 years.

This year the industry was abuzz with Ambanis, Birlas joining the e-commerce race, and mobile app based hyperlocal services like BigBasket, Grofers, Practo UrbanClap seeing a surge and more. Also, with e-retailers heavily promoting their own shopping festivals it comes as no surprise that Google ended GOSF – the online shopping festival which ruled in the past. According to the survey Flipkart’s Big Billion Day was regarded as the best online shopping festival while Amazon wore the crown of the most popular e-commerce site. Cashback & deals are still favoured by among shop online among users.”

This year also launched its very own shopping festival – The Great Online Cashback Festival – and witnessed huge traction.   5. Diwali Dhamaka Sales by various retailers – 2%

With Google ‘Great Online Shopping Festival’ ending this year, retailer specific festivals have garnered better ranking as against last year.

Paytm has witnessed a great leap in overall rankings, jumpint to No. 3 from last year’s No. 7. The main reason behind this can be its growing dominance in the e-wallet industry and the increased popularity of the brand in India.
