Viacom18's only home-grown show 'The Stage' recently went live with its second season on September 17 on Colors Infinity. The show aired on the 1 pm and 10 pm slots on Saturday and Sunday has got a good response in terms of entries for its second season.

The first season that was aired during the launch of the channel was not as grand as this year. Having done a silent launch last year, the channel has gone for a glamorous one for its second season. Taking to BestMediaInfo.com, Ferzad Palia, Business Head, Youth and English Entertainment, Viacom18 shared details about the show's second season.

While last year had a good opening, this year the show got a phenomenal response as the channel opened entries for auditions. Palia said, “We had long lines of people coming for the auditions and got a phenomenal response from both on-ground and online.”

Like last year, the second season got a good response from the North-East. After the success of season one, Renault decided to continue as the title sponsor. Palia said, “Gionee has come on board as the 'powered by' sponsor. Unibic is also one of the sponsors.”

Asked how this season is different from the previous one, Palia said the biggest change was opening it up to the audience. The second part was the scaling up of production. “There are a lot of tweaks, twists and turns which one will get to see in the show,” he added.

Viewers are in for a surprise as the format will witness some changes from the previous season.

Numbers are not something that interest Palia. The success of the season was based on the fact that the show could make a conversation on social media for the show and the channel. That's when they decided to do a second season and has been a landmark property for the genre and the channel as it breaks through the clutter, said Palia.

Speaking about ad rates, Palia said, “We have significantly increased the ad rates for this season.” Palia though couldn't share the numbers or percentage increase.

About a particular category of advertisers that have come on board, Palia said, “Our title sponsor is the same. Handset as a category is pretty aggressive. Gionee as a partner has been great for us. We can do a lot for them in terms of integration and customisation across the board as with Unibic. Every year, the category of advertisers may keep on changing. The good part is that we are seeing steady advertisers, which means the property is working from an advertiser's point of view.”

It seems that Vishal Dadlani, Monica Dogra, Ehsaan Noorani and Devraj Sanyal have become the most loved jury on television along with Shibani Dandekar as a phenomenal host. They will continue in this season too. The Stage season 2 will be aired for 11 weeks starting September 17 at 1 pm and 10 pm on Saturdays and Sundays.
