GEC Watch: Sony stays at No. 4 in Urban; slips to No. 7 in U+R

In rural markets, Zee Anmol continued to lead. Zee TV’s Kumkum Bhagya has entered the top five most watched shows list in all three markets; Rishtey too marginally goes up in all markets on the back of Naagin re-runs

In Week 38 (September 17-23, 2016) of BARC India data, Sony has kept its position at No. 4 in the Urban markets; however, it lost its No. 6 position to Life OK in U+R markets.

In U+R markets, Star Plus continued to lead with 682.613 million Impressions. Colors (581.352 million Impressions), Zee TV (538.669 million Impressions) and Zee Anmol (463.443 million Impressions) held on to their second, third and fourth positions, repsectively.

Star Utsav and Life OK were at No. 5 and 6 with 446.654 million Impressions and 424.757 million Impressions, respectively. Sony Entertainment Television slipped to No. 7 garnering 417.295 million Impressions and was followed by Sony Pal with 406.129 million Impressions. Rishtey (351.838 million Impressions) and Sony SAB (351.359 million Impressions) stand at the trailing end of the list.

In the combined (U+R) markets, Zee TV’s Kumkum Bhagya has gone up to become the most watched show on Hindi GECs with 12.635 million Impressions, followed the channel’s recent property, Brahmarakshas - Jaag Utha Shaitan, which clocked 12.380 million Impressions. Colors’ Shakti - Astitva Ke Ehsaas Ki with 11.311 million Impressions was at No. 3. Star Plus’ Saath Nibhaana Saathiya is at No. 4 with 10.124 million Impressions. Star Plus’ Ye Hai Mohabbatein is at No. 4 with 9.652 million Impressions.

Top Channels in Urban markets Star Plus retains its lead with 60.414 million Impressions, followed by Colors with 398.149 million Impressions. Zee TV saw a decline to 315.402 million Impressions this week. In fourth spot is Sony Entertainment Television with 298.108 million Impressions. It is followed by Life OK with 279.502 million Impressions.

At No. 6 is Sony SAB with 256.708 million Impressions followed by &TV with 142.612 million Impressions. Zee Anmol and Sony Pal stood at 112.301 million Impressions and 110.846 million Impressions, respectively. Star Utsav stood at No. 10 with 109.066 million Impressions.

Top Programmes in Urban markets As per select data {HSM (Urban): NCCS All: Prime Time (1800 – 2330 hrs): 4+ Individuals}, Zee TV’s Brahmarakshas - Jaag Utha Shaitan was the most watched programme with 7.985 million Impressions. It is followed by Colors’ Shakti – Astitva Ke Ehsaas Ki with 7.685 million Impressions. Zee TV’s Kumkum Bhagya clocked 7.618 million Impressions, while Sony Entertainment Television’s The Kapil Sharma Show stood at No. 4 in urban markets with 7.129 million Impressions. Lastly, Star Plus’ Saath Nibhana Saathiya is No. 5 with 6.604 million Impressions.

Top Channels in Rural markets In rural markets, Zee Anmol continued to lead with 351.142 million Impressions, followed by Star Utsav with 337.587 million Impressions. Sony Pal stood at No. 3 with 295.282 million Impressions while Rishtey stood at No. 4 with 259.234 million Impressions. Zee TV is at No. 5 in rural markets with 223.267 million Impressions. Star Plus and Colors garnered 222.199 million Impressions and 183.202 million Impressions, respectively. Life OK is at No. 8 with 145.255 million Impressions followed by Sony Entertainment Television with 119.186 million Impressions. Sony SAB stood at No. 10 with 94.651 million Impressions. Top Programmes in Rural markets As per BARC data, {HSM (Rural): NCCS All: Prime Time (1800 – 2330 hrs): 4+ Individuals}, Rishtey’s Naagin has become the most watched show with 5.733 million Impressions. Zee Anmol’s Jodha Akbar took to the No. 2 spot with 5.677 million Impressions. Zee TV’s Kumkum Bhagya has clocked 5.071 million Impressions to get third spot, while Zee Anmol’s Bandini and Sony Pal’s Balveer at No. 4 and 5 with 4.831 million Impressions and 4.679 million Impressions respectively.
