Google unveils enhanced features to enjoy Olympic 2016

The new features will allow users to discover the latest updates, event schedules, medal count, and trending athletes

India is sending its largest contingent so far to the 2016 Olympic Games. With 119 athletes and with medal prospects like Saina Nehwal, Abhinav Bindra, Deepika Kumari, everybody wants a piece of the Olympic pie. Joining the party is Google with its enhanced features to help fans enjoy the Olympic Games.

The new features will allow users to discover the latest updates, event schedules, medal count, and trending athletes on 'search'. When a user will search for 'Olympics' or a similar query, an in-depth search result will be displayed at the top of the search page or in the Google app, allowing the user to get information for a specific country, sport, event, or athlete. Fans across the country can even choose to get automatic updates on top event and medal wins.

Giving fans a glimpse into the games will be the video highlights on YouTube. The highlights will be from official broadcasters of the Games in more than 60 countries around the world. YouTube is also sending 15 top creators to the Games for mobile live streaming, to give fans a taste of what it's like to be in Rio.

Bringing the Games closer to home is Google Maps. The street view option will allow users to preview the places where the world's most talented athletes will make history and explore the breath-taking beauty of Brazil.

Google will also be showcasing some unique Olympics-based search trends and insights with data visualisations so that everyone is up to date with the latest search trends.

The new set of features basically aims to bring fans closer to knowing more about their favourite athletes and sports disciplines.
