GEC Watch: Zee’s Brahmarakshas opens at No. 2

In Week 32 of BARC Impressions, Star Plus maintained its lead in Urban markets while Star Utsav again topped the Rural markets. Sony’s Kapil Sharma Show again makes it to the top five programmes in Urban markets

In Week 32 of BARC Impressions, while there wasn’t much change in the pecking order, what was interesting is that Zee’s ‘Brahmarakshas – Jaag Utha Shaitan’ was the second most viewed show.

Star Plus leads the pack with 691.536 million Impressions in combined U+R markets, followed by Star Utsav with a whopping 598.686 million Impressions. Zee TV stands at No. 3 with 586.734 million Impressions, followed by Colors with 586.017 million Impressions. At No. 5 is Zee Anmol with 490.427 million Impressions.

Life OK is at No. 6 with 426.878 million Impressions, followed by Sony Pal with 395.033 million Impressions. Sony SAB is at No. 8 with 375.475 million Impressions. Sony Entertainment Television is at No. 9 with 352.633 million Impressions. Rishtey is at No. 10 with 262.899 million Impressions.

Top programmes in U+R

In combined (U+R) markets, Zee TV’s Kumkum Bhagya leads the pack with 12.369 million Impressions. In its opening week itself, Zee TV’s Brahmarakshas - Jaag Utha Shaitan is at No. 2 with 10.821 million Impressions. Colors’ Shakti – Astitva Ke Ehsaas Ki is at No. 3 with 8.949 million Impressions. Star Plus’ Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai is at No. 4 with 8.779 million Impressions. Lastly, Star Plus’ Ye Hai Mohabbatein is at No. 5 with 8.716 million Impressions.

Top Channels in Urban markets

As per BARC data for Week 32 (August 6 – August 12), Star Plus continued its lead with 475.066 million Impressions, a rise from last week’s 453.650 million Impressions.

Colors is at No. 2 with 403.412 million Impressions, last week 375.898 million Impressions.

Zee TV is at No. 3 with 333.529 million Impressions, a fall from last week’s 334.426 million Impressions.

Sony SAB raised two places to No. 4 with 283.193 million Impressions, an increase from last week’s 251.009 million Impressions

Life OK stands at No. 5 with 272.235 million Impressions, a decline from last week’s 274.650 million Impressions.

Sony Entertainment Television is at No. 6 with 255.451 million Impressions, a marginal increase last week’s 254.610 million Impressions.

&TV stands at No. 7 with 158.318 million Impressions, last week 152.933 million Impressions.

Star Utsav is at No. 8 with 137.591 million Impressions, a substantial rise from last week’s 121.635 million Impressions.

Zee Anmol is at No. 9 with 120.560 million Impressions, last week 119.457 million Impressions.

Sony Pal is at No. 10 with 94.924 million Impressions, a rise from last week’s 92.700 million Impressions.

Sony Entertainment Television’s The Kapil Sharma Show is back in top five programmes at No. 3 with 6.288 million Impressions.

Sony SAB’s Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah is at No. 4 with 6.282 million Impressions (last week 5.556 million Impressions)

In the Rural markets, Star Utsav leads the list with 461.095 million Impressions, a substantial rise from last week’s 406.447 million Impressions.

Sony Pal stands at No. 3 with 300.109 million Impressions, a rise from last week’s 292.452 million Impressions

Zee Anmol’s Jodha Akbar slipped to No. 2 with 5.505 million Impressions (last week 6.536 million Impressions).

Making it to the list is Star Utsav’s Piya Rangrezz at No. 3 with 5.377 million Impressions.

Zee Anmol’s Bandini is at No. 4 with 5.170 million Impressions (last week 6.036 million Impressions).

Zee TV’s Kumkum Bhagya is at No. 5 with 4.933 million Impressions, last week 6.387 million Impressions
