In a major reshuffle of portfolios of Union ministers in the Modi government announced yesterday, Ministry of Information & Broadcasting (MIB) has been shifted from Arun Jaitley to M Venkaiah Naidu, who additionally holds charge of Urban Development and Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation departments.
When the Narendra Modi government came to power in May 2014, MIB was allocated to Prakash Javadekar but was soon shifted to Arun Jaitley with Olympian shooter-turned-politician Rajyavardhan Rathore as Minister of State in the first reshuffle in November 2014. Rathore will continue at the helm of MIB as MoS under Naidu.
