GEC Watch: Star Plus widens lead margin as Colors slips to No. 3 position in U+R markets

Zee TV rises to No. 2 in combined markets. Sony grabs No. 4 position in urban markets on the back of ‘The Kapil Sharma Show’. Zee Anmol continues lead in Rural markets

Week 28 (July 9 to July 15, 2016) of BARC data witnessed an unusual slip of Colors to the third position while Star Plus widened its lead margin in combined markets. In a battle to lead the pack of channels, Zee TV rose to No. 2 in combined markets. Zee Anmol continues lead in Rural markets.

Sony Entertainment Television’s ‘The Kapil Sharma Show’ is in the top 5 programmes in Urban markets as the channel rose to No. 4 position.

In Week 28 of BARC data, Star Plus leads with 720.065 million Impressions, followed by Zee TV with 597.092 million Impressions. Colors is at No. 3 with 584.267 million Impressions followed by Zee Anmol with 465.506 million Impressions, a decline from last week’s 473.813 million Impressions. At No. 5 is Star Utsav 436.719 million Impressions, followed by Life OK with 410.265 million Impressions. Sony Pal stood at No. 7 in the combined markets with 407.413 million Impressions. At No. 8 is Sony Entertainment Television 381.519 million Impressions. Sony SAB is at No. 9 with 345.082 million Impressions, while Rishtey is at No. 10 with 284.467 million Impressions.

Top five shows

After Zee dominating the top shows in the last few weeks, this time Star Plus sees three shows in the top five shows in the combined markets. Zee TV’s Kumkum Bhagya topped the chart in U+R markets with 13.649 million Impressions followed by Star Plus’ Yeh Hai Mohabbatein with 9.902 million Impressions. At No. 3 is Star Plus’ Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai with 9.177 million Impressions followed by Star Plus’ Saath Nibhaana Saathiya with 8.871 million Impressions. Lastly, we have Zee Anmol’s Jodha Akbar that gained 8.862 million Impressions.

Top Channels in Urban markets

As per BARC data for Week 27, Star Plus retained its numero uno position with 482.054 million Impressions, a rise from last week’s 459.294 million Impressions. It was followed by Colors with 409.365 million Impressions, a fall from last week’s 435.791 million Impressions.

Zee TV retained its third spot with 334.037 million Impressions, a substantial gain from last week’s 328.823 million Impressions.

Sony Entertainment Television is climbing a position a week. This time at No. 4 with 277.843 million Impressions, compared to last week’s 256.479 million Impressions.

Life OK is at No. 5 with 268.809 million Impressions, a rise from last week’s 253.921 million Impressions.

Sony SAB slipped to No. 6 with 257.074 million Impressions (last week 257.375 million Impressions).

&TV retains No. 7 spot with 116.628 million Impressions, a fall from last week’s 121.712 million Impressions. It was followed by Zee Anmol with 106.857 million Impressions, a marginal rise from last week’s 104.516 million Impressions.

Sony Pal slipped to No. 9 with 106.386 million Impressions (last week 107.125 million Impressions). At No. 10 stood Star Utsav with 103.672 million Impressions.

Top Programmes in Urban markets

As per select data {HSM (Urban): NCCS All: Prime Time (1800 – 2330 hrs): 4+ Individuals}, Zee TV’s Kumkum Bhagya tops the most watched show of the week with 7.428 million Impressions, a decline from last week’s 7.545

Star Plus’ Ye Hai Mohabbatein is at No. 2 with 6.760 million Impressions (last week 6.518 million Impressions).

Sony Entertainment Television The Kapil Sharma Show made it to the list at No. 3 with 6.168 million Impressions.

Colors’ Kasam rose to No. 4 with 5.984 million Impressions, compared to last week’s 5.734 million Impressions.

Lastly, Star Plus’ Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai garnered 5.896 million Impressions.

Top Channels in Rural markets

Zee Anmol retained lead with 358.649 million Impressions, a fall from last week’s 369.297 million Impressions.

Star Utsav is at No. 2 with 333.048 million Impressions, a steep fall from last week’s 354.191 million Impressions).

Sony Pal is at No. 3 with 301.028 million Impressions (last week 300.979 million Impressions).

Zee TV is at No. 4 with 263.056 million Impressions, a rise from last week’s 255.580 million Impressions).

Star Plus stood to No. 5 with 238.011 million Impressions (last week 218.654 million Impressions).

Rishtey is at No. 6 with 202.464 million Impressions (last week 204.673 million Impressions).

Colors is at No. 7 with 174.902 million Impressions (last week 190.043 million Impressions).

Life OK stood at No. 8 with 141.456 million Impressions (last week 133.450 million Impressions). It was followed by Big Magic with 106.029 million Impressions, a fall from last week’s 119.435 million Impressions.

Sony Entertainment Television is at No. 10 with 103.676 million Impressions (last week 104.890 million Impressions).

Top Programmes in Rural markets

ZEEL’s loyal viewers continue to view programs in the rural markets as all top five shows in Week 27 are from Zee’s buoquet. As per BARC data, {HSM (Rural): NCCS All: Prime Time (1800 – 2330 hrs): 4+ Individuals}, Zee Anmol’s Jodha Akbar continued to lead the slot with 6.936 million Impressions (last week 7.686 million Impressions).

Zee TV’s Kumkum Bhagya is at No. 2 with 6.221 million Impressions (last week 5.950 million Impressions).

Zee Anmol’s Bandini is at No. 3 with 5.509 million Impressions (last week 6.198 million Impressions).

Zee Anmol’s Kasam Hai Tujhe Aa Bhi Jaa is at No. 4 with 4.152 million Impressions (last week 4.191million Impressions).

Lastly, Zee TV’s Ek Tha Raja Ek Thi Rani is at No. 5 with 4.055 million Impressions, a rise from last week’s 3.956 million Impressions.
