GEC Watch: Sa Re Ga Ma Pa finale strengthens Zee TV's position in U+R markets

In Week 29, Zee TV continued to hold second position for the second week in a row. Star maintained its lead in U+R and Urban markets. Star Utsav takes lead in Rural markets

Zee seems to be giving a tough battle to rivals Star Plus and Colors in Urban and Rural markets. With a strong foothold in rural markets, its reality show Sa Re Ga Ma Pa is giving strong competition for eyeballs to other fiction shows on Hindi general entertainment channels (GECs).

In Week 29 (July 16 to July 22, 2016) of BARC data, while Star Plus continued its lead in combined U+R markets with 696.376 million Impressions, Zee TV took the second spot with 636.898 million Impressions, keeping Colors at No. 3 with 584.678 million Impressions.

Star Utsav stood at No. 4 with 450.259 million Impressions, followed by Life OK with 437.569 million Impressions. At No. 6 is Zee Anmol with 433.515 million Impressions, while Sony Pal is at No. 7 with 413.606 million Impressions.

Sony Entertainment Television is at No. 8 with 359.426 million Impressions, followed by Sony SAB with 358.682 million Impressions. Rishtey is at No. 10 in combined markets with 289.896 million Impressions.

Top five shows in U+R

Zee TV’s Kumkum Bhagya is the most watched show in combined markets with 13.491 million Impressions. It is followed by Zee TV’s Sa Re Ga Ma Pa with 11.806 million Impressions. Star Plus’ Ye Hai Mohabbatein is at No. 3 with 10.022 million Impressions. Zee Anmol’s Jodha Akbar stands at No. 4 with 8.494 million Impressions and lastly, Star Plus’s Saath Nibhaana Saathiya at No. 5 with 8.445 million Impressions.

Top Channels in Urban markets

As per BARC data for Week 29, Star Plus continues to lead in urban markets with 478.215 million Impressions, despite a marginal a fall from last week’s 482.054 million Impressions.

Colors stood at No. 2 with 414.701 million Impressions, an increase from last week’s 409.365 million Impressions.

At No. 3 is Zee TV with 356.423 million Impressions, a substantial increase from last week’s 334.037 million Impressions.

Life OK is at No. 4 with 287.242 million Impressions, a rise from last week’s 268.809 million Impressions.

Sony SAB is at No. 5 with 266.242 million Impressions (last week 257.074 million Impressions).

Sony Entertainment Television slipped two places at No. 6 with 258.719 million Impressions (last week 277.843 million Impressions).

&TV is at No. 7 with 114.297 million Impressions (last week 116.628 million Impressions).

Zee Anmol stands at No. 8 with 103.873 million Impressions, a fall from last week’s 106.857 million Impressions.

Star Utsav is at No. 9 with 101.436 million Impressions (last week 103.672 million Impressions).

Sony Pal is last on the list in urban markets with 99.695 million Impressions, a decline from last week’s 106.386 million Impressions.

Star Plus’ Ye Hai Mohabbatein is at No. 2 with 6.945 million Impressions (last week 6.760 million Impressions).

Zee TV’s Sa Re Ga Ma Pa’s finale has made it to the top programmes list in urban markets. The show is at No. 3 with 6.816 million Impressions.

Star Plus’ Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai is at No. 4 with 5.807 million Impressions (last week 5.896 million Impressions).
