Comedy Central upgrades content with new shows in June

The channel will premiere with Season 3 of Mom and the first five seasons of Community. The channel will also showcase The Jim Gaffigan Show and Seed in the month of June.

Comedy Central is pepping up the channel content for the month of June by showcasing new programme line-up. Season 3 of Mom will premiere in India on the channel. The first five seasons of the show community will also be shown on the channel for the first time.

Hashim D’Souza, Programming Head of English Entertainment, Viacom18, said, “We have consistently aimed at offering the best of English Entertainment through our refreshed line-up.  This month, we are elated to bring to the viewers a fresh bouquet of latest seasons and special programming. With the newest line-up and best of comedy, we are sure to continue as the viewers’ #HappyPlace on television.”

Season 3 of the show Mom will start on June 1, 2016 at 10 PM time slot. This is for the first time that the show will be presented in India. Mom revolves around Christy as she battles with alcoholism and drug addiction, living with her mother, Bonny, who is a recovering drug and alcohol addict herself. Christy turned a mother when she was 16. Her daughter Violet too is a teen mother. Awarded the Prism Awards for The Best Comedy Series, the show delves deep into real life issues such as alcoholism, teen pregnancy, cancer, homelessness, addiction and much more.

The channel will also showcase ‘Community’ on their channel on June 1, 2016 at 10;30 PM time slot. The show premiered in India with Starworld in 2011 and then it was showcased on FX in 2012.  The show talks about the man Jeff Winger who is forced to enroll at Greendale Community College to earn a legitimate degree after being suspended from job for forgery. A college full of diverse students with diverse temperaments adds more fun to the plot of Community. With a flamboyant dean, Craig Pelton, and his schemes to make the college seem more reputable, along with antics of their unhinged teacher Ben Chang, and a crush from his class, Britta Perry, lingering nearby with her friends, Jeff ends up learning a lot of the law, and otherwise.

The channel has a special programming for the occasion of Father’s Day. They plan to present two show revolving around fathers, namely ‘The Jim Gaffigan Show and Seed’ on the June 19, 2016, 10 PM onwards.  The two shows are about a bartending sperm-donor and a stand-up comedian, father of five.
