Zee TV bets big on the 21st year of Sa Re Ga Ma Pa

Premiering on March 26, the show will air every Saturday and Sunday at 9.30 PM. The new format will have a 30 member jury with 4 mentors

In the twenty first year of Sa Re Ga Ma Pa, a series of changes will be experienced by the viewers. Zee TV’s iconic singing reality show reinvent them with a 30 member jury comprising of music connoisseurs to aid the selection process.

After screening about 50,000 entries over eight weeks of gruelling auditions across 14 cities to discover India’s most talented singers, the most striking voices with an ability to touch the audiences hearts will make it to the stage of Zee TV's 'Amul Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Powered by Flipkart' and driven by Hyundai. Premiering on March 26at 9:30pm, the show will replace India’s Best Dramebaaz on every Saturday-Sunday.

The show has been instrumental in identifying, grooming and opening the doors to one of industry’s finest singers likeShreyaGhoshal, KunalGanjawala, ShekharRavjiani, BelaShende, Sanjivani, Kamal Khan and RanjeetRajwada over the last two decades. Evolving its format over two decades from episodic winners to a pyramid structure, Sa Re Ga Ma Pa has been at the pinnacle of defining and redefining musical talent. Even as the much revered music platform completes 21 years since its launch in 1995, its latest season promises to be young and fresh like never before.

Carrying forward the grand legacy of enriching India’s music fraternity, Zee TV has selected an eclectic panel of mentors to identify, groom and hone the skills of the contestants this season - these mentors are music maestros who’ve given India some unforgettable melodies and are idolized by millions of music enthusiasts the world over. The mentors include Sajid-Wajid,PritamChakraborty and Mika Singh. Aditya Narayan will host the upcoming season.

In the new format, a panel of 30 jury members (experts from the music fraternity) will closely assess the aspiring singers from the audition stage and help the mentors in the selection process. The jury represents different components of today’s music scene from DJs and music producers to singers, arrangers and lyricists.

Akash Chawla, Business Head, Essel Vision Productions, said, "The auditions across 14 cities have given us some spectacular talent spanning varied genres of music and we look forward to a great season. This season marks a strong differentiator for Sa Re Ga Ma as we introduce a new format. We have enlisted the support of 30 music connoisseurs – experts in the music fraternity who will aid the selection process right from the outset. This will be the first time that a singing reality show will have a jury of experts beyond its mentors to arrive at the finest talent. One singer will be evaluated from 30 different perspectives of music. So, the challenge for each aspirant only gets tougher.”

Elaborating on the new format, Hejmadi said, “There is a series of changes that we brought in. The jury comprises of very senior and experienced members who are actually made stars because of their different potential. That is a very beautiful direction from the feedback that we've got.”

“We are aiming for it to be a slot leader; a show which really helps people's heart to be moved. So those are our qualitative and quantitative expectations from the show,” added Hejmadi.

“Amul being the title sponsor and Flipkart being the co-powered sponsor, and being driven by Hyundai, there is room for one more sponsor,” said Hejmadi.

Speaking about the additional cost of the jury, Hejmadi said, “If you start looking at it from that point then everything adds on to the cost. We have invested to make sure that Sa Re Ga Ma Pa sets a new benchmark.”

Commenting on the marketing front, Hejmadi added, “We are mounting a very big digital activation program. We will promote it on the Zee Network along with thetraditional communication. We are starting with a brand campaign for Sa Re Ga Ma Pa. And then we will get in the product campaign which will showcase the talent and the uniqueness in Sa Re Ga Ma Pa 2016. We are getting in partnership with some radio channels and conversations are going on.”

The channel has covered 14 cities (centres) including Bhubaneshwar, Guwahati, Patna, Lucknow, Chandigarh, Nagpur, Dehradun, Ahmedabad, Jaipur, Kolkata, Indore, Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore for the selection process of the show.
