India winning runs was the most mentioned moment and cricketer Virat Kohli was the most mentioned player on Twitter during the ICC World Cup

Twitter_logo_blueCricket mania spilled onto Twitter during the weekend, as India beat Pakistan at the ICC World Cup Twenty20 (#WT20 on Twitter). Indian cricket fans were ecstatic on March 19 (Saturday) as the host nation beat Pakistan in Kolkata and their joy found expression in 1.12 million Tweets on Twitter.com.

With the win, India kept their 24-year unbeaten record against Pakistan in the ICC Cricket World Cup and ICC World T20 intact and extended their streak to 11 wins. The rivalry between the fans of the two opposing teams played out not just on the field, but also on Twitter, with real-time conversations between teams, players, experts and fans.

#INDvPAK has always been big on Twitter. In the last three years, international cricket matches between India and Pakistan have generated 3.15 million Tweets using the official match hashtag, with a 644 per cent growth in Tweets between 2013 and 2016.

#INDvPAK trended all day on Twitter on Saturday both in India and globally. More than 1.12 million Tweets related to the match were sent, making it the most Tweeted T20 International match ever, beating the earlier record of the recent Asia Cup match between India and Pakistan, where more than 6,70,000 Tweets had been sent to the website.

With his fantastic innings in a tight run-chase, @ImVKohli became the most mentioned player of the match on Twitter. Here are the most mentioned players on Twitter:
