The finale of the third edition of Radio City Freedom Awards witnessed the best of indie music amidst gleaming performances. Nominations were invited across ten categories - Young Indie Artists, Indie Collaboration, Rock, Metal, Pop, Hip- Hop, Album Art, Electronica, Folk Fusion, and Video. More than 600 entries were garnered across genres.

The evening was filled with live performances by upcoming bands. Nominations for Radio City Freedom Awards - Edition 3.0, enticed some of the best artists from the Indie music circle. Some of the nominations across genres were names like from Brodha V, Indian Ocean, Midival Punditz, Benny Dayal, Nucleya, Demonic Resurrection and Laxmi Bomb. The awards had two categories - 'Jury Choice' and 'People's Choice' awards. The 'Jury Choice Award' across each category was judged by a power packed jury comprising of Luke Kenny, Atul Churamani, Yotam Agam, Nandini Srikar & Subir Malik. The nominations were up for public voting on their website.

Anand Bhaskar Collective walked away as the Best Rock Artist - Popular and Jury Choice while Aditya Balani was awarded the Best Pop Artist – Jury Choice. Indian Ocean bagged the Best Folk Fusion Artist – Jury Choice, Mumbai's Finest was the Best Hip-Hop Artist - Popular and Jury Choice. The evening also saw Jainam, a budding musician from Gujarat's Jamnagar walk away as the Best Electronica Artist – Jury Choice.

In this edition, the theme for the Radio City Freedom Awards was 'Music and Beyond'. Sticking true to it, the audience witnessed a special performance by Spoken Word artist Rakesh Tiwari who was also accompanied by violinist Ramya Pothuri.

The audience was enthralled by the likes of Swarathma, Alobo Naga and The Band, Ganesh Talkies, Neeraj Arya's Kabir Café and Laxmi Bomb.

Speaking on the award night, Rachna Kanwar, EVP and Business Head, Digital Media and New Business, Radio City 91.1 FM, said, “This is the third year of Radio City Freedom Awards and we are overwhelmed by the response it has generated. There is immense talent all across the country that is waiting to be heard and we are happy to take their music to millions of listeners through our web radio, Radio City Freedom. Apart from celebrating Indie music, we are also embracing spoken word and poetry this year as an extension to our show, 'Open Mic'. We truly believe that Indie music deserves to be heard and celebrated!”

In an effort to recognize and acknowledge indie talent from corners across the nation, the evening witnessed established and new indie musicians walk away with top honours. Radio City Freedom Awards third edition set a trend, where art was not only felicitated but also celebrated!
