The 2016Â New York Festivals International Radio Program AwardsÂ is now open for entries.
World-wide since 1982, New York Festivals International Radio Program Awards honors theÂ Worldâs Best Radio Programs, receiving entries from radio stations, networks, and independent producers from 32 countries around the globe.
âNew York Festivals recognizes the ever-evolving nature of the radio industryâ, said Rose Anderson, Executive Director of New York Festivals International Radio Program Awards. âTime does not stand still in the radio industry â new ways of reaching listeners and new ways of telling the important stories of our day drive change. So, every year, we work with our advisory board andÂ we update some categoriesÂ as well as create new ones.Â It is an organic ecosystem.Â We embrace the new while keeping the best practices of what has come before.â
This year, NYF expanded their dynamic category roster by adding three additional documentaryÂ categories:Â Biography/Profiles, Climate Change & Sustainability,Â andÂ Music. The newly launched categories will provide a platform for those with a distinctive voice and point of view regarding issues and topics of interestÂ as well as create new ones.Â It is an organic ecosystem.
News headlines around the world feature reports about global climate changes and efforts to balance the effects. TheÂ recently unveiledClimate Change and SustainabilityÂ category will recognize programs that address the critical issues of climate change on our planet and in-depth perspectives on sustainability awareness.
âIn our ever-changing world, radio is the original social media,â said Ms. Anderson.Â âThere is a universal language of radio which connects us all â giving us the ability to meet directly in each otherâs imagination and guided by the textures of sound to understand each other.â
New York Festivals Radio AwardsÂ Advisory BoardÂ is comprised of prominent international executives recognized as thought-leaders in the radio broadcasting industry. These individuals function as a sounding board for the competitionâs executive director, offering suggestions for category updates and sharing ideas, trends, and other concerns that impact radio broadcasting. Their guidance insures that the competition is relevant and in step with the ever-changing radio industry.
New York Festivals Radio Awards enlists jurists from all over the world to become members of theÂ Grand Jury. The Grand Jury includes some of the most recognizable voices and captivating programming producers in the industry.Â Entries are judged on production values, organization, presentation of information, creativity, and use of the medium.
Since 1990, NYF and the United Nations Department of Public Information have offered the opportunity for the competitionâs entrants to be awarded the United Nations Department of Public Information Award. This coveted award honors radio broadcasting that best exemplifies the ideals and goals of the United Nations.
New York FestivalsÂ will honour the Worldâs Best Radio Programs at an awards ceremony on June 20, 2016Â atÂ Manhattan Penthouse in New York City.
