GEC Watch: Colors stays put at No. 1 in Week 1 of 2016

Zee TV, Life OK and Sony SAB witnessed an increase in viewership. Star Plus saw a decrease but continues to hold the 2^nd position. Zee Anmol stands at No. 1 among FTA channels

The New Year brought much cheer for Colors as it continues to hold the number one position in the GEC ratings in Week 1 of BARC ratings. Zee TV, Life OK and Sony SAB witnessed an increase in viewership. Star Plus witnessed a decline but continues to hold the second position.

According to select data shared by BARC India for Week 1 for Hindi general entertainment channels (January 2 to January 8) {HSM: NCCS All : 4+ Individuals: BARC India base – All India (U+R), Impressions (000s)}, Colors leadership strengthened as its viewership grew from 744923 to 756549.

Star Plus grew to a gross viewership of 699211 from last week's 712114.

Zee TV witnessed a gain from 651175 to 681259.

Life Ok remains at No. 4 position with a gross viewership of 421720 (last week 396615).

SAB TV witnessed a gross viewership of 334235 (last week 328873).

Sony Entertainment Television remains at No. 6 with a gross viewership of 328025 (last week 328025).

FTA channels

Among the FTA channels, Zee Anmol continues to be the leader with a gross viewership of 719713 (last week 742876).

Star Utsav is at No. 2 with a decline in gross viewership from 464803 to 462298.

Rishtey is at No.3 with a gross viewership of 390305 a substantial increase from last week's 379529.

Sony Pal is at No. 4 with a gross viewership of 352393, another gain from last week's 323119.

Top 5 programmes in Hindi GECs

As per select data (HSM: NCCS All: Prime Time (1800 – 2330 hrs): Individuals: BARC India base – All India (U+R), Colors' 'Naagin' remained the most watched show with an average viewership of 19824 compared to last week's 19847.

Zee TVs Kumkum Bhagya came next with an average viewership of 13692 (last week 12515).

Star Plus' Saath Nibhaana Saathiya is at No. 3 with a viewership of 12798 (last week 12599).

Colors' Sasural Simar Ka is at No. 4 with a viewership of 12108 (last week 12339).

Star Plus' Ye Hai Mohabbatein recorded a viewership of 11833 (last week 12599).
