Asianet adds 13 new HD channels, takes HD bouquet to 30

The company intends to tap the Onam fervour in Kerala by offering its HD channels in three packages – Gold, Platinum, and premium Emerald

Asianet has increased its HD channel bouquet to 30 with the addition of 13 new HD channels ahead of the Onam festival season in Kerala.

The company will be offering the HD channels in three packages – Gold HD pack, Platinum HD pack and the premium Emerald HD pack. With increased sales of HD set top boxes, Asianet has strengthened its HD channel menu and added a variety of channels to cater to viewers' varied preferences.

Asianet also offers Standard Definition (SD) packages in various price points to cater to almost all cross sections of the audience.

Commenting on the development, Binu George, Executive Vice-President, Asianet, said, “Asianet will be increasing the channels in High Definition (HD) and Standard Definition (SD) formats to beyond 350 channels soon, with more than 50 HD channels to offer the viewers a constantly engaging and delightful wholesome entertainment for the family.”

Asianet provides different models of set top boxes manufactured by Cisco and LG.

The company claims to be the first MSO (Multi-System Operator) in the country to introduce the Android HD set top box. With the Android STB, a channel can be viewed on TV and on a smartphone and can be recorded as well.

Meanwhile, the company is on a speedy mission to accomplish digitisation as mandated by the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting for the Phase III towns in Kerala.
